New room needs new speakers, I need your help
The best there is:  ELS 57 - the reference: 1.  Magnepan LRS+   (None better with right set up - essentially an ESL 57) 2.  Harbeth 30.1 / 30.2   (again - superb with the right set up - ESL 57 like) 3.  Clayton Shaw Caladan's    All above best...
Buying and Selling; shipping items and Escrow.com
As the seller, I only accept certain payment (cleared check, or money order, etc.) and shipping terms of FOB (Free on Board) - in which the buyer’s shipper picks up the item, the buyer pays for shipping directly to the shipper, and risk of loss du...
Speaker List narrowed down…
An interesting challenge - to make a "gathering room" sound as great as a "listening room" (AV Room) - by choice of speakers... no matter the cost (up to $25,000). Not a challenge most would take on - since it’s so difficult to achieve - at any pr...
Macintosh MA352 vs PrimaLuna 300 EVO Hybrid
It depends on how much you like to "fiddle" with your stuff and how much flexibility you want to drive various speakers.   If you're a "tube guy" then get the tube amp.  You don't mind (even like) fiddling with your stuff.   But - if you just wa...
My wife weighed in…she wants piano white tower/bookshelf
If its not going to be a primary "listening room" and only a "gathering room" - then - Assumes aesthetics primary + sound quality (in order of priority): 1.  Cabasse Rialto or Pearl - depending upon your design.      "All in one system" no wires...
Help Deciding On New Speakers For Small Room, $10k budget
Several of these suggestions are great! And provide superior sound quality in the right room with the right set up. But several may not be easy to place in your room. In order of priority: 1. Quad ESL 57s - nothing better with right room and set ...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally!
I’m sure the OP has moved on by now... but... for those who are still considering them - here’s all you need to know: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=magnepan+lrs%2B+demos You can try the LRS+, which is about "as good as it gets" fo...
Do Harbeth speakers really need a 4000 damping factor?
I tried my 30.1's with an A21, a Class D Audio SDS 470C, and ARC 150SE - but they sounded best with my Hegel H590 - greater clarity and detail resolution.  May have been my imagination... but... that's how it seemed to me.
Open baffle speakers
Their secret is their dipole radiation.  I have the Emerald Physics 2.7's, Linkwitz Orion's, Magnestand Maggies (1.6 version), and the Maggie LRS+ - and - few other speakers can match their sound quality.  The Emerald Physics and Linkwitz speakers...
Need suggestions on preamp
@hikaru126 "By ’removing’ the jumper I’m referring to taking off the back panel and disconnecting the leads but then the tweeter wouldn’t function." I think that may be a bit too far to take it on the LRS - plus - it might make it more difficult...
Need suggestions on preamp
@hikaru126 Here’s the amp I’ve been considering - and - the one I’d try if I were in your situation. You can get it on trial - so - it’s not a big risk. https://classdaudio.com/product/gan-fet-amplifiers/ This is the guy I bought my SDS-470C fr...
Need suggestions on preamp
I’ve got a variety of speakers (Harbeths 30.1 & 40.2, Linkwitz Orions, Emerald Physics 2.7, LeHave Melas, Magnestand Maggies, etc, etc) as well as a new pair of LRS+. And the LRS+ with the right setup sounds as good or better than any of those...
Recommend a desktop nearfield speaker for me
@larsman Yes... the Cabasse Rialto speakers are truly amazing in all respects. I’ve resisted getting a pair because they are such a sophisticated, all-in one system, which I feared would be difficult to repair, if one of the several components w...
Recommend a desktop nearfield speaker for me
And... here's another review of the Harbeth P3ESR XD that you'll find interesting - especially regarding the matching of amplifiers... (if you haven't seen it).    In near-field listening - it's not about the volume produced by the amp, so much a...
