Cork room treatments @sandrodg73 Interesting product buy I never used it. Just looking at it, the cork material should have a little bit of absorption and the design a little bit of diffusion. However both would be very minimal since it is not thick enough for true ...
Perhaps the most annoying myth in audio of 2025? Talking about Loudness! In the correct room, louder sounds incredible. It does in mine. However my 70 yr old ears wouldn't take well to anything over 75 db for long sessions. But this way I should have many more years of high quality listening. 70 db is what I shoot for ...
Tuner choices: Tandberg or Luxman? Can't help you with those two. I do have a new Sangean HDT-20 Digital AM/FM tuner and it performs real well with a simple indoor cable antenna. No vintage tuner issues to deal with and hi res to boot. Win, win.
Do you agree with John Atkinson (and me)? I lost track. So many records, so much equipment..
Dusting gear and turntable My VPI Classic and secondary table both have covers. Absolutely necessary item to avoid dusting damage on TTs.
Sound room humidity At 55%, the air becomes too thick and deadens the sound a bit in my experience. 40% is ideal in my house of stereo and I never have any static pops on my vinyl rig.
It's been a long time. In my experience, it costs quite a bit more money to equal a vinyl rig sound with a streaming one.
LOOKING TO IMPROVE THE ACOUSTICS OF MY LISTENING ROOM "The room can make or totally wreck a system" discussion posted by hilde45 today m ay be a good way to start.
"The room can totally wreck, or make, a system" Preaching to the choir. In my case anyway. For anyone who thinks they have as good a system as can be regardless of cost in an untreated room, pay attention to what hilde45 posted. I only listened to 2/3 of it because I already experienced all of ...
Has this ever happened to you? Yes, many times. It's actually a fairly easy task with a properly built and acoustically treated listening room when your goal is simply to reach that level of audio nirvana on a specific rig, whether it is streaming, CDs or vinyl. The real challe...
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore? 98.9 FM college station in Austin, all hi res, 3 channels. Running my digital FM tuner through my dac on the main system. Can sound great. Don't do it often, but nice option to have imo.
???Safely Trading Gear Between Private Parties??? Some posters are sooo predictable 😴
Music/Life Neil Young had to be thinking of all the rock musicians who died at age 27 when he wrote that song: Jimi Hendrix Janis Joplin Brian Jones Jim Morrison Ron Pigpen Mc Kernan Alan Wilson Pete Ham Dave Alexander Gary Thain That marked me. It...
DDC Comparisons The U18 has 4 different I2s settings. With my Gustard dacs I used the first setting (Gustard). With my new Audio Mirror Tubadour V, I use the #4 setting. That's the PS Audio setting which Tubadour uses. That feature alone makes the extra cost of t...
Got Innuous, now a DAC I have been down that long upgrading the streaming road too. Like you I started with the Node 130, then added a Teddy Pardo LPS using USB to a Gustard X26 PRO. Then moved on to a Innuos Zenith mk3 still using the USB connection. Then got a DDC to ... |
