Youtube audiophile hi res sounds MUCH better than my Eversolo streamer
YouTube subscriptions still shouldn't provide bitrates that are superior to other well-known streaming services, except perhaps Spotify. Add to that the variability among masters of the same track/album (that generally are not stated in metadata ...
Leaving tube amps on.
Where do most of the world’s KT-150 tubes come from? And where did all the semi-reasonably priced (if compared to alternative) KT-150 tubes come from? One large altercation later and those tubes aren’t being imported anymore.  With Russia doing i...
5 steps in developing hearing
I’ve never heard a system with strong PRaT attributes while playing music I dislike. Coincidence? There are many people who find great PRaT in car stereos and/or smartphones. Sliding scale? Terminology can become problematic when it’s concocte...

New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?

Some thoughts on ASR and the reviews
It all still boils down to that oh-so-common Achilles heel of N = 1. For listening pleasure, that’s all any audiophile needs. For sake of what’s demonstrable vs. what’s merely perceived, it’s a joke.
Full loom of the same cable brand vs mixing and matching.
Does the internal wiring of the DAC / amp / speaker / etc. match that of the interconnects and power cord? Then how’s that system “full loom?” Hipster kitsch-phrase marketing, anyone? Feels like I read about this kind of socioeconomically-based e...
How often, and how, do you clean your stylus?
I do similar as @snilf only with the Japanese Onzow device on a little purpose-built riser. Volume on, to listen for contact. Seconding @mijostyn ‘s concern for blue tack. There’s also a greasy component to that stuff (why you should also never u...

Erratum: my comment above should’ve read “…me you think you’re…” but I tend to be poor at typing as the crow flies. They make too much distracting racket and I bunny-trail myself; probably why I manage real writing projects more at the tortoise’s ...

Speakers On Wheels?
peter_s 1,314 posts 05-09-2024 at 04:55am  Make sure that two out of the four wheels are lockable in place   Or if using 3 wheels, that 2 of the 3 wheels lock in place. No speakers spinning doughnuts, please 😉
New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?
secretguy 1,584 posts 05-07-2024 at 05:28am  I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell ya.   This is the worst experience to get when you grab hold of a new power cord.
18 inch subwoofer vs multiple 12 inch subwoofers with bookshelf speakers
I too generally have preferred multiple subs, especially when crossing to small (bookshelf type) mains. Driver Xmax and surface area will not be the same. Depending on how you plan to integrate the subs, that may not be a negligible difference. A...
