Getting a Divorce and can now buy floor standing speakers
I’m curious about this one.  I’ve read reviews that stated that those who have disliked Martin Logan conventional speakers should hear the XL f-200, about $5500 for the pair: https://images.app.goo.gl/Yauuj9S8EkFNADeJ7
Favorite Album Cover (picture or art on the cover)
So many cool album covers.  Like Robin Trower’s “Twice Removed From Yesterday”.  Some of the “Earth, Wind and Fire” album covers.  Santana “Abraxas”. Then this obscure offering, Savoy Brown “Looking In”.  Used to scare my young nephew by telling h...
WHY DO SOME AUDIOPHILES TRY TO TELL OTHERS WHAT THEY CAN OR CAN’T HEAR IN A SYSTEM?
My guess, always feeling like a novice, is that people might not know who to believe among the (self) anointed experts.  Seeing that experienced and knowledgeable people disagree, some might suspect there is no “right” answer and that people convi...
NEW Tekton Design Speakers - The Bonnevilles
I couldn’t even afford these speakers, nor have the room to do them justice.  The knock I heard (on this forum) on Tekton speakers was that the drivers are alleged to be cheap and not quality.  Be that as it may, I don’t hear anyone talking about ...
What actually determines volume power? Is it watts?
I have run into the same issue with my set-up.  I have a Parasound A21 amp that is rated at 250 watts at 8 ohms and 400 watts at 4 ohms.  My speakers are Martin Logan 60 XL, rated at 4 ohms and 92 sensitivity — so should be easily handled by my am...
All-in-One units for retiring audiophile & music lovers in 2025, say what?
I don’t have suggestions on equipment, as I have the separates and not looking to consolidate.  But I know both young adults and older folks that aren’t enthused about a ton of equipment having cables running between them and taking up room/collec...
Is anyone here still into live concerts these days?
I still attend live shows, though the acts that interest me are few and far between.  And, I often end up ill after attending a well-attended event.  I get funny looks when I show up wearing a mask.
How cheap can you go and still be happy with the sound?
I’m like curious Jim.  I can enjoy music anywhere, from almost any source.  I think engineers have figured out a way to get decent sound on many products.  The cheapest solution that I am currently enjoying are a pair of Bluetooth speakers I found...
Shorting plugs
Wait — I thought shorts in electrical or audio cables or equipment is bad?!  But they were the solution?
Worst Speakers Ever??
The worst speakers I have owned were the Radio Shack Realistic brand Nova 7’s.  I didn’t know a thing about speakers or really any audio equipment when I bought the Nova 7’s that I saw at the local RS store.  This was during the early 1970’s. The ...
Am I right for this forum?
It didn’t take me long to realize that, in the 4 years I’m been coming to this forum, there is a wide range of money spent on one system versus another.  As the old saying goes, “One person’s ceiling is another person’s floor”, or they don’t even ...
The receiver was my intro to HiFi! What say you?
Same here.  I had been reading electronics mags for a couple of years and really wanted to move on from the old portable record player with speakers I inherited from an older sister, and the table radio.  I was talking to my Mom about Christmas pr...
Ethernet cables
I just bought an Aurender N100 from another member and found that I didn’t have a spare Ethernet cable, so I bought one at Best Buy.  Seems to work fine (but then my system is not as revealing as some here have).
Dog pissed on speaker
Find out what music the dog prefers?
Are there other people like me ? Amazed by their low cost system :)
I think there are different ways to enjoy music.  I enjoy listening to my car radio while driving, which certainly isn’t anywhere near “audiophile”.  When I’m out on the deck or patio, I enjoy listening to my inexpensive Bluetooth speakers.  I can...
