Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it.
To get digital to sound as good as analog (yes it is possible), it takes nearly as much tweaking and patience. There's really no substitute for fine-tuning a system to get the best out of any technology. The idea that analog is somehow better than...
Keep the cables the same throughout the system?
I use Audio Magic cables exclusively in my audio systems and have 'moved-up' within the line with excellent results. Mixing cables from different manufacturers just doesn't make sense to me!
What's the best speaker cable for a 20ft run?
I have used the Kimber 4TC at 20 ft and it worked well. Not the last word in speaker cable, but definitely a bargain.
ARC CD-2, dac or player upgrade?
I have an ARC-CD2 and I recently purchased and then sold a well known 'value priced' CD Player. The ARC 2 once again held it's ground. I know that the CD-2 is an older design, but it is so very musical. If you have some money to put into your syst...

At what price do amps start to sound
A great little amp that doesn't get too much notice is the Audio Research D200. Find them used for under a $1,000.00 and smile all the way to the bank. Rotel products are also a terrific value.
Advice for music outdoors
Let me say first that I'm not really a big fan of Bose products, however, in outdoor or low level listening applications I find them to be a good value.
Dunlavy Y or Revel Studio for jazz/rock-fusion?
In the 35 years in this hobby, I've never heard anything come closer to real music than the Dunlavy line of speakers. They are 'big' and do best in a big room. That said; they are typically the last speaker purchase for many audiophiles.
Optimism in Music.
I play a fair amount of Contemporary Christian and Classical Music (not that I don't enjoy many other types). Both of these categories, however, abound with great affirming music; which to me is a lot of what this hobby is all about!
Bose Wave Music system
I really don't think that Boze is considered to be a part of the High End community. Nevertheless, I personally own one of these things and find it satisfying for background music. In fact, I prefer the Bose to my $$$$$ reference system at low vol...
Looking for a non-powered sub
Probably the best ever made is the Dunlavy Sub housed in the SC-V cabinet. Very rare, but worth the challenge of finding one. TIGHT deep base!
Starting a high-end audio shop... Am I crazy?
I have seen a number of High-End audio shops 'open-struggle-fail'. These were good people trying to serve the public with a great passion for the business. Keep your job and be thankful that you have the means to enjoy your hobby and know where yo...
Isolating the listening chair?
For what it's worth, reading this thread (and the responses) is about the most fun that I've ever had on AudioGon. Every once in a while something comes along which is not only fun, but a little bit like looking in the mirror as well!!
HELP Horns, Stats or Conventional Speakers
After 30+ years in the hobby I have found the Dunlavy Speakers to be the most satisfying. The company is no longer in business but if in the rare event a driver needs to be replaced they are readily available. The SC-4s or SC-5s can be found at yo...
What is the best redbook CD player for 6K to 8K?
I would at least audition the new Audio Research CD7. It retails for $9,000.00. From all reports, this may be the most musical one-box CD player ever produced.
