Rear wall effect on sound stage location? In my room, 14' x 20', when I had the speakers on the long wall, the soundstage is even with the speakers. With the speakers on the short wall, the soundstage varies depending on how close the speakers are to the back wall. In general, I think tha...
John Mayer. Buy his album room for squares Yep, I like this one. I went to see him a few months back when he came to Nashville. Very good show. The mix on the CD is pretty much aimed at teenagers wanting to crank up their car stereo, etc. It does sound good in the car. Not very realistic d...

ryan adams "demolition" It is a good CD. I just recently saw him in Nashville and he only played 3 songs off the new CD, and they were all laid back tunes. The whole show was pretty laid back. He was very, very good when he sang and played. In between songs he acted like...
Burning a CD I just started using Nero Burning Rom. It really seems to work very well. I had previously used Adaptec Easy CD Creator for years and years. I have a new, extremely fast, TDK CD burner. I have been burning my latest CDs at 20x. I haven't had any p...
"Kid A" I loved OK Computer. Then I bought The Bends and Pablo Honey. I really enjoyed The Bends but lost interest with it after a while. Pablo Honey was not too bad, but definitely not as good as The Bends. As far as Kid A and Amnesiac are concerned, I s...
Checking the quality of your AC Zaikesman, your meter is telling you the average voltage on the line. The thing you can't tell is wether there is any superimposed noise on the line or fast transients, etc. You really need an oscilloscope to see if there are any problems like thi...
Checking the quality of your AC That's interesting that you want to see if you have a problem with your AC. I think the power conditioner manufacturers just want you to assume that you do. And also assume that all of your audio equipment can really sound better if you use their ...
CD v. SACD yes, redbook CD is flawed. there's a general rule of thumb in audio engineering that you can't expect to accurately reproduce any frequency above one third of your sampling rate. for redbook that would be 14.7 kHz. sounds like a flaw? try digitizi...
How long it take to run in brand new loudspeaker? I think that it is usually the other way around. Speakers that haven't been broken in seem to be too bright / harsh high frequency characteristics. As they break in, the high frequencies should mellow out a bit. So, not sure about your situation. ...
CD v. SACD 1) What?2) I think DVD-A and SACD are fully capable of catching all of vinyl's skips, pops, scratches, hiss, and rumble.3) zoooooowwwwwww
CD v. SACD The Sony DVP-NS900V is a whole different creature than the other Sony players being discussed in this thread. For one thing, it is not an ES model. It is just a mass produced consumer product as compare to the ES model which is designed with atten...
CD v. SACD your responses are always neat because they start off with dramatic but FALSE assumptions. actually I am not a blind follower of Sony. I don't really even like the concept of Sony. I was really suprised that they even have competing products. Ever...
CD v. SACD Natalie, your idea that Sony puts a lousy analog section for redbook doesn't make sense with what I've heard with my own two ears. You see, I think the Rega Planet sounds great, especially for its price. Now, the Sony, which costs less than the Re... |
