LONDON Decca, Tzar DST and similar cartridges Thank you @halcro beautiful song :) ! Cannot judge the sound on this one as I'm not listening pop/rock so no points of reference. Thank you also for the VTF setting, will try that!
LONDON Decca, Tzar DST and similar cartridges @halcro I asked Yip for 231.5mm alternative distance. The UNI I believe is an evolved version of the Dennesen (I have Nerva audio copy, very well made!). I also have an alternative protractor made to order by late Wally Malewicz (sadly was his las...
LONDON Decca, Tzar DST and similar cartridges I have one practical question on how to speak to this petulant girl. Which protractor types do you use? I have a Mint protractor for my FR64s. Since LDR has no cantilever, is is still possible to use it to find the correct angle? Another tool I ha...
LONDON Decca, Tzar DST and similar cartridges Haha @halcro this is one of the most beautiful descriptions of how to deal with audio gear I've ever read! Thank you!
LONDON Decca, Tzar DST and similar cartridges I bought mine FR7f already modded. Otherwise I wouldn't touch it.
LONDON Decca, Tzar DST and similar cartridges @chakster Don't get me wrong, I'm not into "mine is bigger" business :) I've been recently on the market for a cartridge after I had learned that my modified FR7f (boron cantilever + Shibata diamond) has been modified pretty poorly (deformed innar...
Cartridge loading A secondary issue is whether or not the cartridge was built with some form of electrical damping in mind with the intent of thus creating mechanical damping. This seems problematic as the compliance of the cartridge is directly affected- that ...
LONDON Decca, Tzar DST and similar cartridges @chakster In the 2nd link in my post you have a (heroic) @halcro effort to convey sounds of different cartridges to all of us. You can hear yourself 7fz (presumably original) vs LDR and AS Palladian...if you are interested of course.

LONDON Decca, Tzar DST and similar cartridges @howardalex What a rare beast you have there FR7fc. Interesting to learn LDR beats it in your system. What headshell and phono cable do you use?
Cartridge loading bydlo and larry, I wouldn't argue with what you both say, but I would point out that the capacity of a LOMC to make signal current into a very low resistance load (meaning a load that is equal to or much lower than its internal impedance) does...
Cartridge loading I don't agree. Coil moving in a magnetic field can generate only one thing - voltage. This is the lesson of papa Faraday :)
Cartridge loading A MC cartridge is inherently a current generator Why? By the Faraday law of induction, changing in time magnetic flux generates voltage (EMF) across the coil not current. Current flows when you close the circuit with a load.
Hear my Cartridges....🎶 Hi guys, thanks for the encouragement :) I’ve ordered through via the only possible way - through Presence Audio and Brian Smith. I’ll specify that I want more lively rather than darker signature. I think the headshell can do something here too. I...
Hear my Cartridges....🎶 @noromance can it be that the 12" arm has a higher effective mass which Decca's seem to prefer? |
