Are solo efforts ever better?
@russ69 - good one on Phil Collins. And fast too. Although, strictly speaking, all the others I mentioned were the “stars” of their bands, while Phil was just a sideman with Gabriel and Genesis.
Cen. Grand DSDAC 1.0 (vs Pontus II)
There is a lot of stuff on the web about this brand.  It looks like like nice stuff, but personally, I like to stick to products with more of a track record. I doubt anyone here has any real experience with it because I’ve never heard it mentioned.
Is it worth to get 2 m Nodorst vs 1m
It’s worth it if you are going to beat yourself up wondering whether you should have bought the 2 meter cord. As long as you’re buying expensive cables without audition, you might as well go all in for the extra grand.
Wilson Sasha W/P amplifier pairing
If Pass is sounding bright, you may want to consider selling the Wilsons. I am a big Harbeth fan as you are, and I’m not sure Wilson and Harbeth lovers can get along. I have heard them sound good with Lamm, but that’s a lot of money to throw at a ...
A double bass is the best instrument to pair with vocals
Musica Nuda nicely pairs double bass with a female vocal.
How crucial is the quality of a digital cable?
You say you recently purchased the amp. The amp and dac card may both need more break in time. I agree a digital cable may improve the sound, but I don’t think it will turn a dac you don’t like into one you do.
rega elex r burn in?
I give every new component a month before making any decisions.  This gives both the component and my ears time to break in. You both need more time, IMO.  It can be frustrating I know.
Audiolab 6000CDT
It isn’t a cd player. It is a transport only. Just FYI.
Careful if buying Purist Audio Neptune fluid cables.
I really like purist cables, but with the amazing amount of cables produced in Europe, why not buy something made closer to home with a return policy?  And there the issue of shipping back to the US if something breaks or something. Not worth it, ...
how to buy power cords that fit my components (i.e tight and snug)
I’ve found this to be hit and miss, depending on the connector they use and how it mates with your power inlet. A lot of folks wrap a piece of electrical tape around the plug, although I’ve never done it myself.
Are advances in technology making speakers better?
Do what everyone does when they don’t know what to do. Fire the drummer.
Speaker Stand Help
I’ve owned both Skylan and Target 4-post. Both good, but I personally prefer target. I am a big fan of standmount speakers and IMO, stands are a critical part of the sound. I would definitely go for a 4-post stand. I had 2-post Skylans and they dr...
M.I.T.: Using sound to model the world
Good to know.
To bolt Standmounts to stands, or not?
Security concerns aside, every standpoint speaker I’ve owned required it’s own stand interface to sound their best to my ears. Some sounded best when blu-tak’d firmly to the stands, others on small wood blocks, on and on. Same with the stand bases...
NAIM 282/250DR/HC2DR against Accuphase E5000
I am using a Heed Lagrange with the dac card. I simplified my previous system which was the Heed Obelisk integrated with the optional power supply and the Heed Abacus dac. Very good, but too many boxes and cables for me. The Lagrange is a very nic...
