What Holiday Gifts did you ask for or Give to Yourself?
A pair of SVS SB-1000 Pro Subs, to complement my Usher Mini Dancer 2's.  The Ushers already have pretty good bass, but the subs seem to give the sound more fullness and, in the right recordings, improved bass below 40 Hz.  Still tweaking, but alre...
Do you adjust your subwoofer
@bigwave1 Please send a link to the test disc you recommend; there are several sold by Granite.
Results of Actual Hearing Test and Next Steps
I can totally understand why you wouldn’t want to get hearing aids. I got one (I only lost hearing in one ear) a few years ago, and I rarely wear it because it distorts the sound  so badly. It does help me understand what others are saying, but at...
The greatest Pop song yet written and recorded.
I agree with the reply that said this is a silly question, but still -- I can't believe no on has mentioned Paul Simon yet.  CSNY weren't too shabby, either. ;-)
Top 3 songs to evaluate a system
So many good choices here, but I haven't seen these so I'll add my $.02: Sevdaliza - Hubris (almost anything from Ison) Cat Stevens - Where Do the Children Play? The Band - The Weight Genesis - Cinema Show / Aisle of Plenty
Bel Canto E1-X Dac
@soix Thanks for your post — as for the DNA 1 Gold with gravity base, it was my upgrade — and I couldn’t be happier (actually it was their “gravity base Junior”, but it’s still a hefty piece of metal!) I don’t have a good basis for comparing it, ...
Bel Canto E1-X Dac
I recently picked up the E1 2.7 DAC, and am very happy with it. I run it direct to a McCormack Gold rebuild with gravity base, and it works better than it did with a Parasound pre in the middle. I’m sure the E X1 would sound even better!
Made in USA
Despite the Italian-sounding name, Bel Canto products are designed and manufactured in Minnesota.
If there was only ONE album/cd/release you can listen to, over and over.............
I was going to go with Selling England, but @arthur1954 beat me to it.  So I’ll go with Cat Stevens’ Tea for the Tillerman; it never gets old.
Why would the digital optical output from my CD player be louder than that of my streamer?
@jaytor  Interesting possibilities -- I especially liked #3, which made me think of a setting in the BluOS app that I hadn't played with before.  Under the app's Settings, if you go to the Audio tab they have a setting for Volume Limits (dB), tha...
Why would the digital optical output from my CD player be louder than that of my streamer?
My CD player is louder too. More voltage. Mystery solved. Not so fast, @hilde45 -- The CD player is sending a digital signal to my DAC/Pre on Optical, and another digital signal to the same DAC/Pre on Coax; for both the volume is the same, but ...
Why would the digital optical output from my CD player be louder than that of my streamer?
@yyzsantabarbara  Normally, I use the coax output (SPDIF) from the Bluenode to my DAC. Unfortunately, that’s not possible right now — the Coax output on my Bluenode crapped out this week. But you’ve given me an idea – I have a new DAC with a USB ...
DACs with Preamp Stages, Pt 2
Could you explain your romance in more detail? Without getting too graphic about it… First off, there was a sense of the instruments being in the room with me; castanets, cymbals, vocals, bass notes, all frequencies were extremely crisp, clear...
DACs with Preamp Stages, Pt 2
IN love…
DACs with Preamp Stages, Pt 2
Thanks fuzztone — I was leaning toward the RME, but I heard the Bel Canto yesterday and fell I love. I havent heard the RME yet, but I’m pretty sure I’d like it.
