Dedicated 20 Amp Line for Audio I have two dedicated 20 amp circuits. I use one for the amp, and place everything else on the other. I have two quad sets for a total of 8 plug-ins in my audio room. I don’t use line conditioner’s. This is good enough.
Best light weight full range speaker recommendation. I use Martin Logan Spire’s. They’re 5 feet tall, and only weigh 57 pounds. 95% of that weight is in the speakers woofer base. The electrostatic panel weighs nothing. They’re full range with as deep a bass as anyone needs. $3300 used from a local s...
One big reason why brick and mortar high end audio dealers struggle. To heck with them. Their prices are way too high anyway. Their customer base is rich folks willing to pay top dollar No discount prices anyway. They'll be out of business within 18 months.
Tube vs solid state (with all apologies) I’m biased towards ML speakers as well. I’ve owned over 12 ML speaker types in my life. I’ve owned Requests. They’re over 20 years old, so I hope yours have had a panel replacement. I currently own Spires and drive them with a 45 watt tube amp whi...
Best Integrated that you've heard under $5k You’ve got to be nuts if you think you’ve got to spend $5k on an integrated simply to get great sound. There’s nothing worse in this hobby than throwing money at products. I spent $1300 on a new KT88 integrated that also does EL34 tubes and could ...
Recommendation for a highly resolving amp Let me get this straight. You’ve got a Pass amp and yet you don’t find it resolves enough? There’s nothing worse in this hobby than trying to throw money at an issue that can otherwise be fixed. Your buddies sound is unique to his room. First, wha...
Interesting experience with two very different speaker designs Anyone suggesting OB’s aren’t very good never heard OB’s. I’ve owned several made of Sapale Rosewood and solid Maple. And each duplicated the best bass I’ve ever heard that was realistic as the actual instrument.
Why so many tubes? Are you kidding? Have you not heard? Tubes, sound better!
Tubes I don’t understand the paranoia about eBay. There are many, many dealers of tubes who’ve thousands of feedback on eBay. I buy there exclusively because tubes are generally much less expensive than other dealers. I recently acquired new Gold Lion K...
thought on eBay? I’ve bought and sold high dollar jazz archtops on eBay. Up to $8k. I’ve purchased $4 and $5k amplifiers and preamps as well. I’ve been a member there since ’97. USAudioMart is the better place to move high dollar gear, imo. But I’d not hesitate li...
The "Snake Oil" Trope Who among you actually reads long winded posts like this?
Best kept secret in AC line filtering conditioning Is no A/C line filtering is necessary.
Another great gone, this time its Charlie Watts “80 is too young.” On what planet?
Audio deals you bought that seem impossible for the price? Back in AG’s prime, circa 2003, I bought a pair of Martin Logan Monolith III’s here for $900. The speakers were absolutely mint. I also bought a pair of Balanced Audio Technology VK1000 mono blocks for $2000! The days of great deals here are long ...
Record Cleaning Machines I remember all of those who complained about the time involved using a VPI 16.5. If it takes that much work is it worth the time? |
