Modern Shahinian Obelisk I guess I should be more open minded, it's just that the matals drivers that I have give a serious listen to were not my taste (Monitor Audio, NHT, B&W). I tend to fall in love with ribbons (maggies, apogees) and silk domes (vienna acoustics)....
Modern Shahinian Obelisk I'm glad to hear the recent ones retain the customer loyaly, maybe they have figured out how to tame the metal dome tiger. If I could put a set of Shahinians and Maggies in a blender, I would be fully content....
Modern Shahinian Obelisk I have some brand loyalty, so prefer to hear more about how the product has evolved (or not). I've owned 2 sets of Obelisk, Hawks, and "the Box" before, so am drawn to the Shahinian sound. The Hawks were my favorite, but they need to be played a l...
Rowland Capri Phono It tool 300hrs before my Capri settled down, I then added phono cards and they seemed to be good from the start. I have not heard any significant change once they were warmed up for an hour or two.
mcintosh vs jeff rowland I have owned a lot of Mac gear and love it for it's utilitarian approach. I have moved on to Jeff Rowland's products of late (a C500 and a 102/Capri pair) and am enjoying the transition. The Rowlands are a more relaxed and fluid sound, and offer u...
Best Amp with Magnepan 3.6's Maggie 3.6R is a wonderful speaker, I drove mine with a Rowland Continuum 500. The bigger amp really made the bass tighten and go deep without any loss of mid/top sweetness. Jeff's new amps work great with Maggie loads.
How are Rowland digital amps for Vandies The 102 is a wonderful amp, dead quiet and very smooth. I think the Vandies will work well. I have both a 102 and a C500. They share the same musical capability with the C500 only being able to deliver more bass and slam.
Rowland Capri Preamp I find the Capri magical, I was using the ARC LS-9, and the Capri is much more musical and effortless. The amp has wonderful transparency and a nice controlled (but not muted) bass. Rowland products seem to "idle" through the music, never pushing.
Levinson 383 or Rowland Continuum 500 I have a C500 driving a set of Duevel Bella-Lunas, and a 102/Capri pair driving a set of Duevel Venus. I love the sound of the "modern" Rowland amps, it is so smooth and effortless to my ears. These amps just seem to idle their way through the mus...
The best speaker you ever heard? Duevel Jupiters... I love their smoothness, warmth and soundstage...
Duevel Planets They are very nice and easy to drive. I have Bella-lunas and Jupiters and love them both...
XM or Sirius Has anyone tried the new Directed/ Polk Audio SIRIUS tuner (SRH-1000)? Ive got the older SRH-500 and wonder if it's worth upgrading.
Best stereo recievers of the 1970's? Oh yes, the HK 330c was a very nice piece of gear. That with a set of Infinity RS speakers was the deal.
Duevel Planets - comments? I have both Venus and Bella Lunas; they are just great. If you like open, dynamic and smooth sound Duevel is the ticket.
The best speaker you ever heard? Duevel Bella Lunas in a 14x14 room powered by TacT 2150. |
