I'm not all in on digital systems because I'm not all in on DACs
Yes, measuring DACs is quality assurance and as long as a DACs THD+N is beyond human audibility I’m satisfied, the engineering was competent. In my particular system any DAC before the speakers is superflous, every input goes through ADC then DAC....
I'm not all in on digital systems because I'm not all in on DACs
My system, which consists of a Roon Core and active speakers is all digital until conversion and sent to amps then drivers which are controlled DSP active.  This all happens within the speaker as well as volume control. Of course I’m not obsessed ...
Please recommend speakers
If you buy used or demos you  could probably find Monitor Silver or Revel M106. You can get more for your money that way.  Having them on shelves you might look at studio monitor isolation desktop pads or stands. Try to get the front of the speake...
Why I'm not adding a sub to my 2-way monitors for music
Personally, I feel DSP and it's ilk "spoils the cow's milk". I would never think to alter the eq of what the producers in the studio intended You never reproduce the intention unless your room and speakers match the mixing room. DSP no more spo...
Why are there so few BNC cables to choose from
Try pro audio sites like sweetwater.
Words and Sound
Huh? 🤔
What's a reasonable listening position response curve?
Yes, that to me wouldn’t be very listenable, to hot in the high frequencies. I prefer a curve like Katz described, fairly flat to 1khz then a slope to 20khz very similar to the Harman curve without the bass boost. Of course it's also speaker depen...
What's a reasonable listening position response curve?
My feeling is that digital EQ is not even worth considering if you are serious about music and a graphic equlaizer is superior, Easy way to measure use REW and an approved microphone.  Graphic equalizer is not far superior for home use, you'll ...
What's a reasonable listening position response curve?
I thought this would be right up everyone's alley on this site since they are Subjective preferences. At any rate house curves are all subjective but there's no way any in room response will measure flat to .01db.  Feel free to post one. Why ...
What's a reasonable listening position response curve?
Here is a typical target house curve. I have similar results but I don't do a bass boost.  Ignore the nonsense about measurements flat to .01db he has the slightest idea what you're talking about.
What's a reasonable listening position response curve?
There's the Bob Katz method flat to 1khz then linear diagonal to Nyquist which makes it about -7db 20khz. Some like a bit of bass boost but you need to watch your headroom. You could Google Harman curve for some info on that method.
Just getting into Streaming, need help and advice
Download BluOs app on tablet, Get Node on your WiFi network then Connect Node to Speaker analog left and right replacing the Klipsch Gate. That would be the easiest way if you only want to use the Node with your powered speakers. If you have ether...
Distinctly Different Upgrades. Surprisingly Similar Musical Outcomes?
When we change something, we can hear a different sound.  We hear stuff on recordings that we may not have noticed before.  Sometimes we may lose something in the process, sometimes not Sums it up pretty well. I think that's what most of these...
Need help choosing a new DAC
Why not another SMSL?
Can recommend some non-fatigue SMALL bookshelf for near-field listening?
Maybe active monitors,  Focal Shape 65 or Alpha 80. You'll get better low end and free up some space.
