Well you don't need a degree in physics to determine a 600 wat amp will fill a room easier than a 200 watt amp with siliar amp output to fill a 21,000 cubic foot room

I have the 2,4 and when I use mu XA200.5 with them they are a different speaker.  I use the X600.5 for the 7.2 as they just have the power to handle that load and play in a 35'x60' living room.
Tampa Audio Expo 2022
The Infigo Audio room had  AudioKinesis Gina speakers I believe with a bass module of some sort.  I never heard these speakers before and I was glad I had the opportunity to hear them.  Very natural sounding with an ease to them that welcomes you...

Gershman  Acoustics I believe on 12th floor I was impressed with  When I asked the owner how much for their monitors I was taken back at the price. I literall]y asked how are you making any money? They were extremely nice couple (man and wife) an...
Tampa Audio Expo 2022
I thought it was me as I walked into a room only to walk right out as there was no reason to listen further. That bad,  I was shocked that there were 3-4 rooms per floor so maybe 40 rooms total for this show.  VAC seemed to be represented the mo...
To Buy or to DIY, here is my question
Perki, Great advice. What effects a build is stress and rushing it, Sometimes you need to step. back until all the pieces if the puzzle fall into place,  I'm in production and time is money but sometimes you have to abandon that thought to get t...

I will agree with the OP. There were more bad rooms than good. Most sounded mid fi at best.
Florida Audio Expo - Budget Room
The TAD room on Sunday was dialed in with  those monitors.   I asked how much and was told 85k. Dam!

I gravitate towards open baffle speakers sonically but they tend to look butt ugly aesthetically.  Have you heard the  Linkwitz LX521  personally/

mod_asored,   The locking miter takes a little bit of math to get your joints right.  Then add a tapered cabinet and you've added a degree of complexity to it.  Another benefit to this joint is it holds whatever adhesive you use well as opposed...
To Buy or to DIY, here is my question
I’ve decided to do the Troels Gravesen’s design Atell 3. A DIY version of Kaiser’s classic speaker. I like to break each individual part down for a build and then mock up each part to insure it to my satisfaction before starting on the production...
To Buy or to DIY, here is my question
fatdaddy2, Exactly. Hiring US workers with US taxes, US healthcare, US utilities etc. these ever increasing costs need to be recouped in every widget a company produces.  As a manufacturer if you don't know your true cost of doing business you b...
To Buy or to DIY, here is my question
ditusa, Thanks for that link. Now there is one on the list.  To build a speaker cabinet without it doesn't make sense.  1. Stronger joint for structure integrity. 2. More bonding surface than traditional 45 miter. 3. Provides an air tight sea...
To Buy or to DIY, here is my question
carlsbad, There are some in this hobby that believe if you spend more it must be better.  I've been using power tools since I was very young so I have a great appreciation for having the skill set to build your own speakers.  With what I do for...
To Buy or to DIY, here is my question
I asked this very question in a thread DIY speakers. If the design and xover are proven then that leaves building the cabinets to the CAD or drawing specs.  Not all DIY have someone that makes them and ships them as flat panels for end user to a...
