VAC preamps - too expensive?
Sounds like Vac Products require lots of maintenance. What do they do to it and why is it necessary? Super inconvenient for a quality product
Vibration isolation or absorption?
@audiopoint    I looked at all the photos and I'm disappointed. So many members have done such a great job photographing and detailing out their systems and when I look at your pictures and info it's a huge letdown. It looks to be a very impres...
How should I upgrade? A new preamp with a phono stage or just a phono preamp?
I had a vintage nikko nr 719 receiver with a built-in phono stage and a technics turntable and it played marvelously. Used with epicure linear speakers. Probably sounded better than most of the stuff out there in the modern age. Components were re...
Moved Audio Quest cable to my DAC. WOW
Speaks to a very poor power supply for the dac originally. What’s the name of the dac. Upstream components generally have better power supplies. Amplifiers are the best place for a power cord with a large 10 gauge. Mcintosh doesn’t believe in powe...
Amp Warranty Repair - What's an acceptable timescale for turnaround?
What's the name of the amp manufacturer? These types of things need to be openly discussed for the benefit of mankind. Did you take advantage of the spare amp your dealer offered? I would buy a second amplifier as a back up.  If you have a foreig...
Vibration isolation or absorption?
@audiopoint I read your eloquent post. And I guess I am confused. I am not the brightest person so forgive me. You seem to be taking a negative view on isolation and absorption merchandise sold by audio enthusiasts. And then in your final secti...
Is soundstage DEPTH a myth?
Wow, omg, so much being written hear about the subject. Soundstage is like pornography, when you hear it you just know.   And something not discussed too often, Quality recording is quite important especially on a better more revealing system. ...

Why do I need a switch?
English Electric 8 switch   This is a really good switch and I was lucky to have found and bought it for about 600 bucks Plus they give you a decent Quality shorter ethernet cable and the connecting power cord is of very good quality.    It's an...
un-becoming an audiophile
So I don’t understand this audiophile stuff. To be one of these you mean I have to listen to certain things in a different way and be very critical. I have to listen to discern how the flute sounds in relation to the trombone, and then I need to ...
un-becoming an audiophile
I think we need to think about finding a more flattering term. The word audiophile is not the greatest. We are connoisseurs of music that is re-created exceptionally well to inspire Great interest while listening. I’m not sure many know what the ...
Is there a 300B type amp out there with some WATTS behind it?
Charles1dad, That's a really pretty system in a really cool room.  I'm gonna spend some time looking at your set up.  Clearly a lot of thought.  Bet you have a wonderful miles collection.
Room treatment ideas for annoying external noises
NoRomance Landscaping noise is a growing problem. They don't use mufflers and they keep doing it until every last leave is gone. It's getting to the point where you stand outside your home and if you're having a conversation with someone you can ...
room size question.
Small rooms tend to compress the frequencies. You can only turn up the volume so much.  Very very very difficult for a small room to flourish. How high is the ceiling? That's another huge factor. Have you thought about headphones?
The problem with absorption panels- it kills the fine details
I’m interested in online acoustical calculators. There have been a few listed here but the interfaces seem challenging. And they all have to be done on a desktop or laptop. iPads are taboo in this world these days for acoustical testing even if yo...
