"I Trust My Ears" I don't know. I just buy my gear according to what Amir says and look at its measurements all night. That's fine with me. Also, my doctor says I'm half deaf but my engineering degree says otherwise. So there's that....
Streamer upgrade advice. Point 1&2 just killed you. Get off of computers and Mac in particular (if you're serious). Also, forget any improvements unless you're willing to shell out $5K or better. This is all assuming the rest of your gear is above par.
Room Treatment Help GIK, just email them
Buckeye Amps musicality? Not measurements, musicality.... Watt for watt, those GanFET amps you mentioned are much more expensive. Yet, they don't dare have a shootout with top-of-the-line Purifi or Hypex modules that are much cheaper. Their only claim is that their specs are better than most standard sil...
Buckeye Amps musicality? Not measurements, musicality.... All I know is, I’ve owned top of the line Class D modules from Hypex and Purifi and I’ve owned very good Class A/AB amps from the likes of Parasound, Bryston, and Aragon (a brand new hot-rodded Titanium). And my first listening impressions with th...
Buckeye Amps musicality? Not measurements, musicality.... @samureyex he makes them to a price point. Better cases can be had elsewhere for a premium. If I were using his amps for surround channels in a closet, I'd be fine with them.
Buckeye Amps musicality? Not measurements, musicality.... @samureyex , that is true. I even asked him what the difference between two brands of modules that he offers were, and he told me, "nothing. They'll sound the same." Maybe, but I like being able to roll opamps in my Nord monoblocks. I certai...
Buckeye Amps musicality? Not measurements, musicality.... I own Buckeye, Deer Creak, and Nord monoblocks. As far as I know, there is nothing special with Buckeye's "implementation" that would distinguish it from other diy assemblers. That said, if it's for home theater, you should be ahead of the game o...
Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP….beat dealer? Why not Tannoy? I think their paper woofers sound better.
Just got a new power amp Pretty sure that, besides the other excellent comments above about dB gain one less conversion, most of what people pay for "good" rca's at $$$ can be accomplished with standard xlr's from Guitar Center at $. Audioquest would rather keep you in th...
Local pickup for speakers - should I let the buyer in the house or use the the garage? I've had many people in my home to demo gear before purchase. It's the right thing to do. Or don't do local pickup.
Do some DACs "handle" sibilance better than others? http://forum.audiogon.com/posts/2823757 This begs the question, do any of you have a favorite test track that shows sibilance?
Shanling ET3 or Project CD RS2-T CD transport comparison I can't imagine the Project being any better that the excellent Shanling. I love mine never had a issue with the remote or the lid.
Weakest Link in my system... Power Supply, DAC, or... GIK Acoustics is super helpful with room treatment options.
