Best Capacitors for Crossovers
Ozzy, You need XSim which is also free. :) We have a couple of threads going on in the DIY forums regarding simulation and crossover design. Feel free to join in. Best,Erik
Questioning the need for a DAC
Hi @psickerson I’m not sure if all have it, but some Schiits have ASRC. Adaptive Sample Rate Conversion. Most of these processes work by throwing away the original data and recreating it. They map the data coming in to a (hopefully) much more jitt...

Oppo Sonica DAC Expected this fall
Most of my listening has been via my speakers. I did listen quite carefully with headphones while trying to evaluate the alleged benefits of MQA which I could not find. I’m very very happy with the Brooklyn in both senses as a DAC and headphone am...
Oppo Sonica DAC Expected this fall
I took my AKG 7... 12? 721.... damnit.  My orange AKG K headphones. :) I heard them at the last California Audio Show in SF. The little UFO sold by Blue Coast was MUCH MUCH better, as is the X5. I invited some audiophile friends to come listen, an...
Oppo Sonica DAC Expected this fall
I only heard the Oppo HA-1 driven by a Macbook air. The top end was brittle and glaring. Not the same type, but the Fiio portables I have listened to have been consistently good, if sometimes a little weak, performers. I needed to add an external ...
Best Capacitors for Crossovers
Ozzy, Here is a link to the LM-1 speaker kit. This particular page discusses the crossover, and how the tweeter level is set.http://speakermakersjourney.blogspot.com/2016/05/lm-1-bookshelf-crossover.htmlBest,Erik
Best Capacitors for Crossovers
Hi Ozzy,Yes, resistors in the tweeter section are usually to pad down the level.  Tweeters tend to be very sensitive, around 98 dB for instance at 2.83V, while woofers, when all is said and done, may be around 87 dB for a small diameter woofer. So...
fostex full rang p1000k
By the way, consider taking your questions over to the DIYAudio forums. There's one just for "full-range"

Well, if you want to go completely off the reservation, how about a miniDSP plate amp? :) Includes very versatile EQ capabilities. Best,Erik
Using tube amp with electrostatic speakers.
@bdp24 That's fantastic! For several reasons.  First, proves I don't make stuff up, which most readers think I do.  Next I am actually in the Bay Area so I'd love to. Best,Erik
Did I buy a counterfeit REL T5/i sub??
M&K claims counterfeit subs, among other things, drove them out of business. The factory in China that was making their subs was making more and selling them out the "back door" as it where. They were getting inquiries about a "piano black" su...
Mytek Brooklyn need Audiophilleo?
I thought of something after I left. Mytek DOES recommend an outboard power supply for the Brooklyn, 12V 2 Amps or more I believe are the specs. There's even a jack on the back to connect it.Best,Erik
Using tube amp with electrostatic speakers.
@tomcy6 I think your skepticism, in general, is well placed. I've seen speakers who have crossovers DELIBERATELY designed to be hard to drive.  That's not the case with electrostatics however. Plug: Has anyone seen my LM-1 monitor kits? Easy to...

Not sure the size, but maybe experiment with the latest Foxtex full range drivers? They are on sale at Madisound.Best,Erik
