Dipole Asymmetry
I agree that is pretty close to the rear wall. Solutions would be acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics. Also, put a panel between the speaker and the rack. It won't be ideal, but much better. :)
Best Capacitors for Crossovers
@grannyring Thanks for that. I've been seriously considering the Jupiter line, especially since Soniccraft has them on sale often. I have a pair that sounds very nice, but I am thinking about completely re-doing the crossover design, and Jupiter c...
Best Capacitors for Crossovers
You might want to try DIYAudio, but in the "affordable" boutique crossovers my favorites so far: Clarity MR (now CMR) Clarity ESAMundorf MKPMundorf SupremesYeah, I list the Supreme’s lowest due to an artificial Disney-like sheen or scintilation. I...
Need Advice on Multi-channel Amp Choices.
I found your comments about frequency response interesting. That would imply that they have high output impedance (or low damping factor) which they do not, by themselves have. Tube amps of course tend to behave this way. If you can point me to an...
Need Advice on Multi-channel Amp Choices.
By the way I’m not a huge NAD fanboy. I really like nCore, and ICEPower though. The NAD DACs I’ve heard were not to my taste, but damn, I like the look and modular concept of their processors. :) Arcam is also nice, but not a very good track recor...
Need Advice on Multi-channel Amp Choices.
Multichannel amps are usually compromised some way. From limited power outputs, inter-channel crosstalk, heat generation and disspation and yes, the shared power supplies. Especially if we are talking 7 channel outputs. Otherwise, you get into rea...

One other question, are those speakers one's y ou own or are thinking about?
Need Advice on Multi-channel Amp Choices.
Do you have good room treatment? Especially important with subs. I am usually suspicious of multi-channel amps, especially if linear. If I had to go with a single multichannel amplifier the NAD M27 is one of the few I'd be serious about.
Improving 2- Channel Soundstage
By the way, having a lively debate in AA about Neo 6 and using a center channel for music. I't snot a bad idea, but ML's should have great soundstages by themselves, so I wouldn't go that route until that's improved. :) Best,Erik
Improving 2- Channel Soundstage
Bass traps are great, but one step at a time. :) I really think you should reach out to GIK Acoustics. You can send htem pictures and drawings and they'll give you excellent advice.Erik
What do audiophiles want from a cable?
Very expensive and difficult to use tone controlsImaging enhancement (see above)Endless merry go roundfinancial sense of ownership and accomplishmentThe chance to enhance our own discernment of equipment instead of music.Social sense of belonging....
Anyone with Benchmark ABH2?
I have not heard them, but boy those heat sinks remind me of the Hafler modules we used to buy ages ago. :) Best,Erik
Sanders Magetch Amp
I haver not heard the Magtech, but I'd be surprised if it was lean in the bass at all. The ESL amp I did hear however sounded cool, as opposed to lean. It didn't lack bass so much as sounding analytical.  Not harsh, but close to the older ARC amps...
Voltage regulator in the power chain
Jim, That's how I did it with my 2 Furman units.  The first was the voltage regulator, and the power conditioners plugged into that, however the Furman has 5V granularity. Your unit has 15V so it's not usually going to be helping you, as much as j...
Reliabilty, Keeping Equipment Powered on or off?
There’s no one right answer anymore. The biggest issue with on/off cycles was the initial current surge that goes through the transformer and power supply capacitors. They are much better now than 40 years ago, and many amp makers have added soft-...
