Does anyone know what I saw ?
If I am not mistaken, an interconnect was marketed years ago that had a seperate single thin cable, terminated with a simple small spade connected to the cable's shield; one could ground or float the shield.
are audiophiles different than non audiophiles ?
Orpheus10, I am not sure wether you disagree, or not, with anything I have stated, but I agree with you. Mrtennis (and Orpheus10), my point is that a "keen interest in" music, is not necessarily a criterion for defining an audiophile. I know many ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Audiofeil, please share your impressions when you can. I would also be very interested in knowing your impressions re the perceived output of the cartridge vs. the actual output spec (mV). The stated spec is .15 mV, which would put it in dangerous...
Stan Getz VOYAGE
There are so many beautiful moments on this record. One of the moments that just kills me, and which is a testament to the excellence of this rhythm section, happens in the first six measures of Barron's solo in "I Thought About You". If you are e...
Stan Getz VOYAGE
You are welcome, Albert. Roxy54, it is available on CD, a couple of copies on ebay right now.
Stan Getz VOYAGE
"Voyage", it is! The Audiogon gremlins strike again. Have no idea why the title did not appear next to Stan Getz. Sorry about that. Enjoy.
Are you too old to be an audiophile?
Farjamed, my observation/comment was not meant to offend. I don't know you, and I respect however you choose to participate in discussions on Agon. However, I will say that my experience is that, IN GENERAL, participants who seldom discuss music t...
Are you too old to be an audiophile?
Mijs, Bravo!
Are you too old to be an audiophile?
I should have also pointed out that in the case of the posting history of posters holding the other (majority) viewpoint, there is a far greater percentage of posts about music in relation to posts about gear.
Are you too old to be an audiophile?
I often find it interesting, and telling, to look at the posting history of participants in a thread; particularly when there is disagreement. In the case of this thread, there are two posters, Douglas Schroeder, and Farmajed, who share a strong d...
are audiophiles different than non audiophiles ?
There is a basic flaw in the question. It really needs to be two seperate questions. While interest in equipment usually means at least some interest in music, many avid music lovers have zero interest in equipment.Completely agree with the first ...
nice box for tube storage -- where can I find one?
If you have an available drawer, buy a thick piece of foam to line the bottom of it. Cut evenly spaced slits in the foam which will securely hold your tubes. An added benefit is that they will be easily accessible, and you save damage to the cardb...
listening in the dark?
Interesting. I prefer CORRECT (for me) lighting. I find that certain subtle localized (as opposed to overhead) lighting greatly enhances the listening experience. Particularly when I want to get my audiophile jollies.
What is your favorite tv theme song/composition?

Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Banquo363, I have no doubt that you heard what you describe. Isn't it interesting? This is what makes analog so fun and so maddening. It's all about synergy.
