Audible illusions Modulus 3A or Klyne 6L
The Klyne is an extremely musical preamp, and not just a matter of what one likes if ones reference is live music. If you have ever heard a live triangle, and you then play a recording of one on a Klyne, the Klyne will sound the most true to life....
Shunyatas New CX series
Hi Sherod:Glad you guys are enjoying the CX series cords. I have a question now that there are others with the Python: how do you find it on percussion instruments?
Antique Labs Hurricane DT
I still have mine, going on 7 years, but yes, Mine do still blow resistors. I think the suggestion of Tosh was also to put in 2 ohm resistors. I have an appointment with my electronics repair guy, who's in Middletown, CT. He's terrific with the am...
Nordost or Alpha Core?
No, you shouldn't worry about oscillation. There is a review on ultraaudio.com about the Veracity speaker cables and interconnects. It is rather hard to distinguish the Valhallas from the Alpha Core on digital sources. HP had the same issue years ...
First Sound preamp
The First Sound is excellent, if those traits are what you seek. It also has tremendous drive and power and is quite good at the micro-dynamic thing as well as macro (MAN, does it do macro!). Its 3D capability is excellent as well.
Arcam fmj cd23 vs cd33
Drubin, I still enjoy the Cambridge, but I have to say that its slight reticence of power in the bass is one of its few flaws. It needs a bit more power to it. I have to say that I like Arcam's sound. Some people have pointed out that it's "forwar...
Shunyatas New CX series
Sherod, what you'll get is likely the performance of a Python, just less of it. That's what I find most in Shunyata: same abilities, just in a lesser degree as one goes down the line. You might want to go for a Viper, though. I wasn't let down whe...
Pass Labs Aleph 3 vs Antique Sound Lab AQ1001 DT
I had an Aleph 3 back in 1996, so it may have changed since then. I found it very clean, and pure in its tone. I have to say, it didn't knock me out otherwise. The ASL 1001 I found quite intense in the best sense of the word. I've owned it for 7 ye...
Shunyatas New CX series
Juan, thank you! It did help having with several pairs of speakers and turntables at my disposal as well, but I didn't think to mention it at the time. You know how excited we get when we get something that energizes our connection with the music.
Shunyatas New CX series
Antonkk:The Python is richer sounding than the Viper, without the Viper ever sounding "lean" in the way say, a Nordost Brahma, might. I haven't switched them in applications, but I can say that I am in no way feeling that the Vipers are cords that...
Arcam fmj cd23 vs cd33
I would have to agree that the FMJ 23 is an exceptional player. What is has, that many other (current and otherwise) players do not is the "breath of life." What I mean by this is that it sounds as though a real human being is playing the instrume...
Shunyatas New CX series
Sherod:I have a few hundred hours on the Shunyatas now. Sonically, a very significant improvement over the Helix, which, without comparing them, one would not notice the great improvement in airiness. I was rather startled by the transients in the...
Shunyatas New CX series
I have not tried the Teslas, DL. What is your experience with the Tesla vs. the CX line? Without access to both cords, it would be hard to determine one being superior to the other....
Shunyatas New CX series
Sherod:One thing I need to correct is what I said about brass: I meant to say they are a LITTLE more golden, not "a LITTLE golden." Misspoke there. And, MB, I think the jump in performance is obvious, but will be more so the more transparent the ot...
Nordost PC - Shiva, Vishnu, or Baldur?
Yes, it is. The Shiva is a bit lean: the Vishnu has more "flesh" on the instruments, which also means more varied colors in the instrumental families. I've had all the Nordost power cords: Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma (not Baldur: Baldur is an interconne...
