Why CD players will never be dead
Thank you, Steve. I'm streaming Pandora and the ASUS netbook recognizes the V-Link automatically. Is "Kernel Streaming" an option to look for w/i JRiver? No clue as to what a WASAPI plug-in might be. I visted the dppoweramp site. I think I'll wait...
Why CD players will never be dead
The discussion on this thread was helpful. I think I'm going to dip my toe in the water of computer audio and sample some stuff from HD Tracks. Looks like I can download FLAC 92/24 music files from them and also get a trial version of JRiver. Do I...
USB to SPDIF Converters
Stereo5 - what sort of interconnects are you using? Haven't looked it up but I'm guessing your Emotiva is a cut above the V-DAC. Thanks.
USB to SPDIF Converters
Just received a gen 1 V-Link from Audio Advisor. The $99 clearance price was hard to ignore. Using it with a gen 1 V-DAC. Asus netbook via Kimber USB to V-Link to V-DAC via StereoVox Coax. V-DAC via JPS Labs RCAs to pre-amp. I need to do some more...
Music DVD burning question
Lindisfarne - It was, it is, it will be...'cept I don't smoke that stuff no mo'. 2 out of 3 ain't bad - simpler and still sounding good.
Is my room 11 x 14, or 11 x 20?
Hodu - I think 11x14 is more relevant to your situation than the 11x20. I'm in a ~13 x 15 foot alcove myself. Facing the speakers that are positioned 7-8 ft apart along the long wall (not ideal)the right (13') side wall of the rectangle is missing...
Great Organists in Rock
AF - I'll cover your EJ with a Billy Joel and raise it with a Joe Jackson (you enjoy being a provocateur dontcha!).
Great Organists in Rock
Dunno how "great" they are (though I do enjoy many of the previously posted musicians)...here are a few of my favorites I don't think have been listed so far:Matthew Fisher (Procol Harum)Brian AugerRod Argent
stripped allen wrench screws
A 2nd for Sfar's recommendation. Lowes or Home Depot will have it. You can by a set to fit various size "stripped head" screws. Useful tool for other than audio as well.
Why CD players will never be dead
Thanks to all that replied. This is a very helpful thread.
Why CD players will never be dead
Nonoise- Thanks for the helpful reply. I have a bit more of a clue about this now.
Why CD players will never be dead
To Steve (Audioengr) or anyone else inclined to explain...How is it possible for a copy of a CD played from a computer hard drive to sound better than the original CD? I'm not trying to be argumentative. I would really like to understand what the ...
Basics for connecting PC to stereo
I can't help you w/details about the best digital formats or software for storing music on your computer hard drive -if that is what you mean but listening from a computer is pretty easy. I'm just using an ASUS netbook. Kimber cable w/USB from net...
Svetlana KT-88
From what I've read, back in the 70s Svetlana Winged C did exist as a brand of Russian tube produced in a factory in St. Petersburg. Sometime since, an American company, New Sensor, began buying up rights to various tube brands such as Mullard, Tu...
Christmas Music and Audiophiles?
Blkadr has it right with respect to contemporary Christmas music though lately it seems like Christmas muzak offerings are heavily weighted towards Santa Fraud and his ilk. My personal Christmas music preference is certainly for that celebrating t...
