EAR vs Audio Note preamp
I know I’m very late on this thread but I thought it may help someone else looking for either of these brands, or others. I have an EAR 912 and it is a stellar performer. It’s mind boggling how many other preamplifier and phono stages I’ve had but...
EAR founder has cancer
Terrible news, I have recently dealt directly with his company in England. Wonderful people to work with. I wish him all the best!!
Help!
Hello, yes, based on your advise and others I tried everything, I think they know where the issue is, at least I hope they do! Will post here when I find out the problem. Thank you again
Help!
Thank you everyone for your assistance. I spoke to the EAR USA tech who told me that the meters run through the volume control circuit so it’s on its way back to England for repairs. EAR is the best customer service company I’ve met in the audio h...
Help!
Ok, thank you. So I swapped the RCA cables at the preamp and the right side continued to play music, nothing from the left channel. I then swapped the left and right cartridge clips around and the same thing, only sound from the right channel. I e...

The Mark Levinson 532 is a giant killer, not the “H” series though. It’s better than most amps I’ve ever heard, does most everything right...

VPI 40th Anniversary Table After Warranty Support Question
I have had several VPI tables over the years and have dealt with Harry and the late Sheila several times, both were always very helpful. I have no experience with the new VPI owner except knowing that he is the son of the founder. I hear some of t...
BUY Bryston!!!!!
It’s great to hear all of these wonderful experiences and to be honest I’ve had several great experiences with them as well but not with their amplifiers, only with their digital products. I had a pair of 7B SST2’s where one amplifiers bias went o...
What is the best way to tame a slightly bright speaker?
Room treatment for sure, power conditioners and cables will not tame that speaker, if they do they are affecting or colouring the signal which they all claim not to do. Your speakers are a bright speaker, I’m very familiar with them. You can spend...
A very good ENGINEERING explanation of why analog can not be as good as digital..
This is such a subjective issue yet so many opinions try to be objective. It’s like what is the best colour car to buy? Yes, there are colours that sell better than others but it’s the buyer that decides.I have albums that sound better than cd’s a...
Are Pass Labs amps probably the best ever you can buy ?
That is such a hard question to answer, I had a Pass X350 and it was quite sterile sounding, beautiful build quality but not for my systemat the time. Your question is impossible to answer as it depends on your personal taste and your system. Ther...
