when your hearing is not as good as it was . . .
@8th-note  That is interesting that you have had sensitivity issue with soundstage as I recently had a similar reaction. About a month ago I replaced the stock J&J tubes in my Rogue RP-1 with NOS Mullards and immediately noticed a widened so...
Is my amp good enough?
@neversatisfied  The NAD 375BEE spits out 410 Watts into a 4 Ohm speaker. The Golds, at 4 Ohm, are rated at 250W RMS. (Think of 250W RMS as the average power your speakers will be given at any time). So together they are a good match with regard ...
Is my amp good enough?
I have had the NAD 375BEE for 8 years. Sweet sounding A/B Amp that comes alive with a tube preamp. Had a PrimaLuna 100 (6 tubes) but after trying a Rogue RP-1, I sold the PL. RP-1 can be had for around a grand. Upgrade the two tunes in the RP-1 an...
Steely Dan UHQR
@larsman I am thrilled that vinyl seems to have made it all the way back to the point that the vultures are back in play as well. I should start being more patient as you stated as the hobby still has some warts. I too have made purchases on new...
Steely Dan UHQR
I received a copy of the Aja UHQR a couple of weeks ago and while I am generally happy with my purchase, I doubt that this will be the first of many more UHQR pressings purchases on my part.  Reviewers like Michael Fremer work audiophiles up into...
anybody running dual NAD C298's?
@webking185  I am merely running two amps in order to power two sets of speakers. The Motion 40's can handle 300 Watts and the C298 offers up 340 Watts at 4 ohms. The 35Xti's spec 250 Watts with the 375BEE maxing out at 250 Watts. My preamp, the ...
anybody running dual NAD C298's?
@webking185  A simple search of "NAD" (on Agon) results in 19K+ responses, while "Yamaha" nets only 12K+ responses. That, in and of itself, suggests that NAD is a more popular topic and brand than Yamaha. Just sayin'.
anybody running dual NAD C298's?
I have had my NAD298 running in tandem with an NAD 275BEE for about two years now. The 298 feeds a pair of Martin Logan Motion 40's while the 275 feeds two Martin Logan 35XTi's. Front end preamp is a Rogue RP-1. My experience is that the A/B Clas...
Zavfino
@xcool  I have the Majestic MKII power cable on my SS amp and a Fina MKII power cable on my DAC. Very happy with both.  The Majestic MKII needs at least 8 inches clearance (12 to be sure) and it does not bend easily beyond that. I had the Fina M...
Symptoms of UN-CLEAN power
@jerryg123 Thanks Jerry. I have a second Zavfino power cord on the way. I should have prioritized the dedicated line before I went out and spent over a grand on cables, but the first Zavfino cable was such a remarkable change that I could not wait...
Symptoms of UN-CLEAN power
@jerryg123  Good advice, thanks. I should have put a couple of dedicated lines in when I did the basement 10 years ago. Such regret that when my nephew told me he was creating a man-cave, I pretty much forced him into putting in dedicated lines..s...
Symptoms of UN-CLEAN power
@curiousjim  I just ordered an Entech noise analyzer and will provide my results when I get it. Will test the wall outlet and then an outlet on the Panamax I utilize. Have you tried other outlets in your house to see if they all test the same?  ...
Symptoms of UN-CLEAN power
@jerryg123 Are you using a dedicated line? If you are plugging your gear directly into the wall, how are you protecting from outages (no surge protection) that may damage your gear?  I live in a quasi-urban area and my house is only 11 years old....
Symptoms of UN-CLEAN power
@audphile1 Not sure if you are being a wise-guy like your avatar, but you claim that "power is power" is confusing. Evidently, you purchased a 2K Hurricane Power Cord for your Power Amp? So contrary to your remarks, it looks like power handling i...
Symptoms of UN-CLEAN power
If, A) is to install a dedicated circuit. And, B) is to purchase a conditioner to clean up the AC on the said newly installed circuit, then it would seem to me that, C) is to skip A, and go straight to B.
