Review: Tube Research TRL Dude Tube preamp
I would ask Paul as he knows for sure. The older GTP will not have his newer power supply. In the end only Paul could answer this question.
Amp and speaker matching.
Rrog is spot on. The 70 watt tube amp will work and produce nice sound, but the power reserves and headroom will not be there for complex and demanding material at higher volumes. The speakers will not sound as good as they could as they will be d...
Sunfire Signature... what is this?
Your new amp is very powerful and is of a different design then most SS amps. It does indeed drive difficult loads with its rated power into 8 and all the way down to 2 ohms.It drove my large and very difficult to drive Soundlab M1 speakers with a...
Sunfire Signature... what is this?
Yes you are 100 percent right. Send it in and it will come back better then new. I could not believe the improvement. Also get an iec and use a better power cord. Yours is the Sig 600 and I understand now that you already had lots of power before ...
Sunfire Signature... what is this?
If it says Signature on the back and has his signature on the front face as you say then it is surely a Sig 600. He did not make a Sig 300 etc....If the binding posts have the red and black plastic covers, then it is a first generation. If the sol...
A B Cable comparison
Wire can and does in many cases make a big difference. Waste your time:-)
Does this amp have a problem or is it OK to buy?
Johnsonwu is telling you stay clear unless you know what you are doing with solder gun and circuit. If you want to fix the issue and look at it as a challenge, then have at it! Simply pay far less then the asking price .
Does this amp have a problem or is it OK to buy?
If you hear the hum or buzz through the woofer, then I would stay away as it is not simply tube hiss etc....
Does this amp have a problem or is it OK to buy?
Humming through the speakers is not the same as a noisey tranny which is a mechanical noise which does not produce a hum through the speakers. The unit has a hum problem which may be a ground loop issue or power supply caps that need replacing. Per...
C'mon name that amp ...please?
Go for a great hybrid amp for the great sound of tubes without the hassle and heat. The Aesthetix Atlas stereo amp is wonderful as is the Moscode.
Compact Disc as a format
Cd's will stick for some time and I still think computer based audio is not quite ready for prime time. Too many twists and turns and changes and steps and pieces and confusion and improvements and cd's still sound better. At least great cd player...
Audiogon sellers, please stop and read this thread
This is a scam and back out right away. I have had this tried on me on two occasions and it is a sure scam. Run from it right now!
Amp design logic
It would take me years of study to get to the point of building my own tube amp. That takes time and time and expertise is what you also pay for. Time is expensive and means a great deal to us humans. It has been said that to become an expert in a...
Great Amp Suggestion for Aesthetix Calypso
The Coda is a nice choice. I will add these;Conrad Johnson MF 2500a ( be sure it is an A version )Monarchy SE160 hybrid mono ampsBest amp would be the Aesthetix Atlas stereo amp. I own it and it is wonderful. However the best used price I have see...
Any way to "improve" a Conrad Johnson MF 2500
Bad power supply caps cause a slight buzz with older amps thru the speakers. fYI
