Review: Tube Research Labs Dude Tube preamp Ya, I agree. I still like to compare with preamps I have not had the chance to A/B. It's fun for me and I'm always open minded enough to want to hear better. I have yet to hear as good as the Dude. Yes, the Dude does abide.
Pass XA60.5's or Cary CAD 500 MB for Maggie 1.7? The best amps for you are the TRL Samson monoblock amps. They are amazing and run cool. They never show up used, but I see a set for sale now. You will not find better sound and based on your comments are exactly what you want.
Thought on OTL tube amps Your missing the fact that I have owned many top end amps along with the Atma-sphere on these same speakers. So I could compare these other amps to the OTL and note any changes to my music. Trust me when I say I have heard many a great amp and the...
Thought on OTL tube amps I thought this would be so. Anyway, I run from thin sounding gear as my ears find that to be the #1 sonic dislike.
Thought on OTL tube amps I must admit I am a little confused here. Two posters have said OTL amps are thin sounding?Goodness my experiece could not be more opposite. On my Soundlab speakers they have more body then two other great SS amps I have heard on them.Amps that ha...
Review: Tube Research Labs Dude Tube preamp Hi GloryYes he did. Pretty easy to hear this in our a/b comparisons. He also had the Audio Valve Eclipse preamp with NOS's. This is also a very nice preamp with great drive, power and scale.I found the Dude more refined overall with instruments so...
Thought on OTL tube amps JWMThe Atma-sphere MA1 amp on my Soundlab A3 speakers is anything BUT lean sounding. I find it to be full of bloom and weight.
Review: Tube Research Labs Dude Tube preamp Well the Dude went head to head today in my friends nice reference system against the Audio Research LS26. The Dude won in all areas, but I still found the LS26 to be a very nice preamp. The biggest area for me was how small or closed in the 26 sou...
Perhaps we should stick with midfi... Meant to say " a place some find themselves"
Perhaps we should stick with midfi... Could be, but we have seen this type of question/comment before and it is interesting and a place some themselves.
Perhaps we should stick with midfi... System matching is work and trial and error. It takes time. Maybe this is part of the reason? Almarg is also correct about the nature of a revealing system making poor recordings sound worse.I also think expectations play a huge role. You don't ex...
Kingsound King II vs King Doug,The Kings I heard did not have your upgraded power supply and glad to hear it helped. Would be nice to hear the King with that upgraded power supply from VAC.
Kingsound King II vs King I started that first thread you read about the Kings as I to was very, very close to buying them. I went to hear them and liked them. My only issue was the speaker could sound a little thin with OK recordings. It seemed the foundation of the music...
Soundlab owners - room placement question I am actually looking for more overall body and not so much more bass. My tube preamp and CD player have good body and warmth. My amps are SS and perhaps tubes would give more body. I am going to play more with room placement and perhaps power cord...
Soundlab owners - room placement question Ya, I am still playing. Right now mine are 7 feet from he wall behind them and they are about 3-4 feet from each side wall. My listening position is about 2 feet from the back wall behind me. My toe-in is very, very little. So far I have found the ... |
