I am using a Kiseki Purple Heart N.S. which has a .5mv output. The Adagio has plenty of gain for that cart.

Thanks Rob, I do like it a lot! The tubes substitutions are based on Scott's recommendations below: "In my own personal Adagio I use Sylvania 6267 for the two EF86 in the second stage (6267 was the US designation for the EF86). NOS 6267 are gettin...

I did them all at once, since I really didn't feel like doing one or 2 tubes at a time. I also opted for the upgraded transformers when I ordered the Adagio. Scott said that they improved the bass response among other things. Yeah, I will likely n...

Hi,I rolled in some GE 5751 Blackplates (3 micas), a GE 12BH7 in place of the 12AU7/ECC82 and a pair of 6267/EF86 Telefunkens. Pretty much improvement all across the board. They are also very quiet, perhaps even more so than the stock JJ's.BTW - I...
Help me choose a speaker match for my Line Magnetic 805ia tube amp under $10K
@freesole Sorry to hear about your experience. The Devore website does not list any dealers in Washington state. Pearl Audio in Portland is listed on the Devore website though.

Devore 0/93's or Super Nines. The LM amp is frequently used to demo those speakers at Devore dealerships, since Tone Imports the LM distributor among other brands, sells to those dealers.
Curious what people think is the best "value" high end speaker (~5K to 15K)
The Devore Super Nines at 8.5"X13.75", seem like a small footprint to me and they are not as "rich" sounding as the 0 series speakers, or so I have heard.

Looking for speaker recommendations
Oops, the Devore Gibbon X's retail for over $15k, so you will never find a used pair even remotely close to your budget. Sorry.

Check out the Devore speakers...such as the O/93's ($8500) and the  O/96's ($1250.00). Each has that "full tactile" sound, plus they have a small footprint and are very efficient and easy to drive.  For something a bit more "linear" sounding, the ...
Herron VTPH-2A Phono Preamp....anyone familiar?
I owned the VTPH 2 several years ago (not sure if it as the "A"version) and while I thought it sounded superb on classical and jazz, I missed that "bite" and leading edge on transients with rock music. I felt it sounded a bit "polite" and since mo...
"Original" equipment vs. upgraded equipment
"In this example I would say that though the upgraded unit may sound the same, the original 75SE will have greater resale value on the used market. Why? Because in the upgrade process, only certain parts are being upgraded, not the whole amp. So if...
"Original" equipment vs. upgraded equipment
Thanks! I have seen equipment from ARC, Ayre, CJ, etc., where the seller proudly states that the gear is original and not an upgrade from the company. I wonder what those companies would have to say about that?  I made a similar post on Audio Circ...
