Looking for a new Subwoofer I never understood this Rhythmik infatuation I read about from time to time here. I heard one once, and it was just ok. What model did you hear, and what kind of gear was feeding it? How was it tuned? WAS it tuned? They are highly adjustable...
Are REL the most Musical Subs? +1 for the Rythmik F12G (paper cone + servo control). Integrates very well with my MMGs.
Power amplifier longevity… thoughts? I have an Onix & Soap I purchased in 1987 and a Mac MC250 c. 1980 that work and sound perfectly fine. I'm about in the same boat. My MMGs are fed by a B&K EX-442 Sonata w/Toshiba cans that is early 90s ('90 - '93, not sure which year)....
What is your "holy grail song" that you cannot find? "Blues in F" by Spencer Davis Group. Only recording I'm aware of is the B side of the original 45 of "Gimme Some Lovin".
Comparison of various subwoofers for 2 channel audio Rythmik F12G owner here. I don't own electrostatics, but have Magnepan MMGs. The F12G is very fast and musical sub that has a very good array of controls to match your listening preferences, whatever they may be. Can't go wrong with a Rythmik, ...
What is the Current Guidance on Stereo and AV Configurations I have a dual HT/2.2 system running eARC from a Sony Bravia OLED to a Marantz SR8015 AVR, Parasound P5 preamp, B&K Sonata amp (mains) and Adcom GFA6000 for the center and rear Energy surround speakers (Rythmik F12G main sub up front and small ...

Planar Speakers and Diffusors I have Maggies on each side of a 65 inch TV, no absorption behind either, but a couple plants as diffusers. For critical listening, I worked up a screen of sorts made of Geo textile fabric that I drape over my television. I had the wife sew a slot...
The Music Room Personally, I think all the hyperventilating over the IRS is unnecessary.
Which Vintage CD Player To Use As A Transport? I still use a Denon DVD-2900 transport in my main rig and a Pioneer DV-F727 300-disc carousel in my office. The Denon has digital and 5-channel analog outputs as well. It's a very substantial, nice unit.
Maggies and subwoofer integration I also run my Maggies (MMGs) through a B&K EX-442 Sonata. I’m using a Rythmik F12G sub. After lots of back-and-forth, I settled on 80 Hz for the crossover (it was either 60 or 80 for me). With the room EQ/DSP I run it integrates very well when...
Newer Blues Artists or Recordings +1 for Dr. John’s "Duke Elegant". +1 for all Warren Haynes/Gov’t Mule +1 for all Tedeschi/Trucks music (or the prequel Derek Trucks Band’s "Songlines") +1 for Marcus King (have seen him twice, most recently last summer; saw him open for T/T a f...
Who out there wants to, or has, validated an amazing cable find? This isn't a purchased cable per se, but because it was an inexpensive experiment, so I gave it a go. This was to connect Maggie MMGs to a modded Hafler DH 220. While not the end all be all by any stretch, I was fairly blown away by the sound th...
I took Frank Zappa’s advice Favorite audiophile liner notes, Steely Dan, Katy Lied: Read the booklet that comes with "Jazz At The Pawnshop 30th Anniversary" SACD box. It could almost be a sound engineer's Master's Thesis.
Are there any issues with connecting speaker wire in this manner? make the loop fit tightly on the screw and orient it so that tightening the screw pulls the wire in rather than pushes it out. if done correctly, this is an excellent connection. This is what I do with the 12-gauge single-conductor speaker w... |
