Pre/Amp/Int for Vandersteen 2ce Sig II for +/-$3k
I used Unison Unico SE integrated with my 2 Sigs, and it was a great, enjoyable match. Unison replaced the SE version with Unico Secondo, which has less power, but better build quality.I tried also Luxman L505u with good results, but not as good a...
need advice for budget preamp for Rega p3-24...
I'm using CA 640P with my P3-24. Considering the price I'm satisfied.
Warmest sounding Green Mountain speaker?
I had Vandy 2 Sigs for nine years, and never felt them to be warm. Laid-back yes, but not warm.
Best Sounding Passive Preamp
Folks, just curious, are you trying to help the OP who posted 10 years ago or you just need a reason to talk?
Datzeel vs Asr Emitter exclusive vs Devialet
Nice joke.
Acoustic Zen Adagio vs Thiel 2.4
Their sound is absolutely different. Someone who likes the Thiels, most likely, will never like the AZ, and vice versa. I have the Adagios, bought them after owning Vandy 2 Signatures. They sound excellent with jazz, classical, and good with rock....
Looking for speakers
I also own Adagios in a 14 x 25 room, and they sound absolutely terrific, especially with jazz and classical.
Preamp suggestions
I use French-made Atoll PR300 with my A21. Used it's in your price range, and has every quality you're looking for. I've never seen products from different manufacturers that work this good together. To me it sounds even better than the Parasounds...
Preamp to match SS Amp, under $2k used
If you don't mind Solid State, then try to audition the Atoll PR300. It's an unbelievable match. You'll be amazed by the results. Even better than Parasound's own JC-2 preamp. I have that combo, and for a price and being SS it's unbeatable, IMO.
Help with Pre-Amps
Emorrisiv, Phaseshifter had started this thread in 2008. I really doubt he's been waiting this long for your suggestion :)) Of course, I might be wrong...
tube pre amp plus solid state power amps?
It's perfectly normal to use SS amp and tube pre, however, IMO, since you had tube amp, McCormack will kill your ears (my personal experience). Classe, YBA or something like that will do MUCH better. Again, IMO.
Preamps or Integrated with HT Bypass Pls Recommend
Definitely try Atoll PR300 preamp. Really great piece. Gorgeous sound and, also, hand-made in France.
Atoll v McIntosh v Musical Fidelity v Rega
Sebraasch, please keep in mind, whatever I say is just my subjective opinion. The last MF amp I had was A5 integreted, and I hated it. I auditioned at the time Audio Aero, Plinius 9200, Unison Unico Se, and bought the latter. But that's another st...
Atoll v McIntosh v Musical Fidelity v Rega
Sebraasch, you won't regret your decision. I don't know what MF amp you have in mind (personally I think they are sterile), in any case Atoll 200 is a terrific peace, and it is very unfair that folks know about it so little. I was auditioning that...
Atoll v McIntosh v Musical Fidelity v Rega
Atoll IN200 is a great amp. Very easy on the ears, yet very detailed. Also it's reliable and has excellent built quality. Dealers usually give a few hundreds bucks of discount. With the Mac you'll pay more for the name than for the sound. Personal...
