HH Scott 350 fm tuner If you can stand the flames :-), Radio Shack made some very slim right-angle RCA adapters that are slimmer than the right-angle adapters on the market. You can find them on Ebay if you are patient. You could always use another source component t...
Upgrade for Day Sequerra FM Reference Tuner I stumbled across this thread and I can offer an update: Since HD radio was added, many tuners suffer from added noise in Stereo. The upgrade that Day-Sequerra offers now includes an added filter. Ironically, Day-Sequerra is a big commercial su...
Should I give up on FM HD over the air ? and steam instead ? If you have a decent tuner and adequate antenna, over-the-air is better. I tried Sangean and Day-Sequerra HD tuners; neither came close to decent FM. I hear that the McIntosh HD tuner sounds good but is scarce and expensive.
Alignment procedure for HH Scott 370 tuner ? Well this is a total crapshoot since this guy hasn't posted in years! lithojoe raves about the sound of his modified Scott 370. Does anyone know the modifications or modifier? If not from lithojoe, I'd welcome hearing from anyone with good resu...

Sherwood HP5500 tuner - any one familiar with it Sherwood tried to move upmarket with a "High Performance" line. Unfortunately Hewlett-Packard considered it a trademark infringement when they used the HP prefix. Sherwood had to re-badge that gear. I don't know that piece, but it was probably top...
Using Internet Coaxial Connection as Tuner Antenna If you want a splitter, Goodwill will have them for $1 or thereabouts. If it doesn't work, donate it back for good karma. Good luck!
McIntosh MX 130 as a 2 channe preamp tuner I owned a 130 and liked it, but it is not one of Mac's top tuners. It's not bad by any means but if you have a station with IBOC noise caused by HD radio this tuner does not handle it well. If your favorite stations don't have HD broadcasts you sh...
Sangean HD Tuner used with external DAC I used the Sangean with the Logitech (Slim Devices) Transporter as a DAC but did not hear any real improvement over the Sangean built-in DAC. HD radio has a low bit rate; I suspect that is the limiting factor. YMMV. Good luck!
Overall opinions on Harman Kardon My former college roommate is still using his HK receiver he bought used in 1975! The solid-state Citation 18 tuner is very well-regarded. The Citation I and II are beloved tube classics, the 14 is a decent tuner and the 22 is a good power amp. Th...
What's the difference between a Citation I and IV Stanwal is correct, the IV is the lower-cost version of the I. The designs are different, you cannot convert a IV to a I. That said, all of McShane's kits are well-regarded; I think he offers one now for the IV. The prices for the I have gone up a...
Equipment that has made you 'stop' looking? Stax 323 Series 2 amplifier for Pro Electrostatic Headphones.
What tuner would sound better I have a Day-Sequerra M4. This is NOT the analog masterpiece from long ago; it is a current product. It can receive both the analog and HD broadcasts. In my location, with strong local signals, I always prefer the analog broadcast to the HD broadc...
KBAQ Phoenix - is noise due to IBOC from HD Radio? I wrote KBAQ in Phoenix and the station engineer called me. He said they are committed to HD Radio and they expect FM to go all-digital like television did. He did not say in as many words that my noise problem is caused by IBOC, but he didn't den... |
