Spring-Loaded Screw Turns Drywall Into Sound-Absorbing Panels
Very interesting, thanks for the heads up! Looks as though it hasn’t entered the market just yet, but I wouldn’t think that would be too far off. Boy, could I use something like this, otherwise I’d have to think about plywood paneling...the cost o...
A full range speaker?
I’m getting around the ’crappy sounding sub’ problem by going infinite baffle bass (a pair of Acoustic Elegance HTIB 18" woofers) in a somewhat custom built room, the construction of which is on hold due to building prices for now. But, I’m really...
What DAC upgrade made you say “DAMN, that sounds SO MUCH better than my last DAC”?

What DAC upgrade made you say “DAMN, that sounds SO MUCH better than my last DAC”?
Apologies to everyone right off the bat here - I do Not want to hijack this thread, but there are some details that will be important should anyone consider buying this DAC that should be known, so I apologize in advance for the lengthy infomercia...
A full range speaker?
A couple things about room treatments in general: it may look at first like it’s just a matter of picking out what you might think you might need from a vast forest of treatment products that are out there, pro or DIY. The one big problem with any...

Ha, sorry if you have no frame of reference, I decided to give mine so you'd know what mine was. Last time I checked, this forum was open to everybody...
What DAC upgrade made you say “DAMN, that sounds SO MUCH better than my last DAC”?
I have about $10k’s worth of components in my system. After getting everything else up and running on the performance levels I was looking for, I turned to the last piece of the puzzle, the DAC. I’d been rather happy with an EVS-modified Oppo 103 ...
A full range speaker?
Agree with @douglas_schroeder  that listening to a system with strong output down through 15 Hz is a completely different listening animal than most people would suppose. Whoever said that there's just not that much musical info below 40 Hz was ab...
What does 'cold' mean? What does 'warm' mean?
True!
What does 'cold' mean? What does 'warm' mean?
We are all in agreement (except for Fred, he never agrees with anything) we just may not always know how to get to the good sound we're looking for.
What does 'cold' mean? What does 'warm' mean?
If you're dealing with a system, or a sound, in which no agreeable balance can seemingly be struck between warm and cool, i.e. a sound that can be made to be either too cool or too warm, but offers little or no real appreciable apparent, or satisf...
2nd Order Filters Cause 180 Phase Shift
No worries, you won't have to change polarity on your tweets - that's only required when designing dedicated crossovers for a given speaker system, but since you're only filtering out the lows from your amp, your speaker crossovers will continue t...
Wild anecdote on variables in a listening room / studio (from Darko)
It sure seems that way!

During this isolation, I would be interested in suggestions of great movies you like.
Cockfighter    Another Monte Hellman & Warren Oates, I believe.
