Phono stage comparisons I had a Musical Surroundings Nova III and went to a Chinook. Big improvement. The Nova never felt full sounding and very paper thin, I even had the power supply. Loved the Chinook and it allowed air around instruments and tube rolling was fun. Gre...
!!! Harbeth M30.2 Xd,NOT Just Pipe & Slippers Speakers!!! I've been very curious how Harbeth's do with rock and metal music. I've considered a pair but always thought they wouldn't be voiced for faster and heavier music. Great!
Recommendations for MM Phono ~ Tube or Solid State @lewm @lalitk is correct on the resale value of Allnic. I've had 3 units all purchased used, less than 5 years old purchased for a 1/3 of what they go for new. I'm a fan of Allnic, but the resell value of their products isn't good. I would only pu...
Grounding an Integrated Amplifer @chayro do you have any idea why turntables need a ground?
Is Recording quality the real culprit? My biggest issue is with vinyl pressing quality. I can't even hear what they intended in the studio because most modern pressings are so poor. Sure there's a few high fidelity companies and people trying to push the envelope, but there's just so m...
Amps that don’t impersonate space heaters. Seconding the Atma Class D's. Tube amps and A/B amps just roasted me in my hot and small upstairs bedroom. Atma's solved that issue with zero heat and they don't even get warm. I don't think I'll ever be selling them.
Cartridge upgrade Lots of conflicting advice in this thread.....
Need A 10-30 watt Tube Power Amp, Lower Heat Output, Which Sounds Great, Under $1500 Used My music room is a small room and in my opinion, all tube amps will heat up the room. I've tried tube and AB solid state and eventually had to move to class D for power and and solid state for phono, leaving just 300b in the pre. In my opinion tub...
Is There Some Problem With Shunyata's Everest Power Conditioner I also have a Denali, vastly better than the PS Audio P10 I had before. Even with a cheap power cord it was better, improvement with better cords. I would like to move up to the Everest, but can't imagine the difference, but I have heard it is a p...
Experience purchasing a used high-end cartridge I bought a "brand new" cartridge from Kron and thought I had gotten a deal. Sent pics of the odd cantilever over to the US distributor and learned it wasn't the original and was a very poor retip. Never again.
I can't remember the name of this Dealer / Company Tap Plastics is what you want for a custom dust cover. They made one for me and it's custom sized and cutout for cables and even has handle cutouts.
A Sanely Priced Power Conditioner That Actually Works - OnFilter PDU I even contacted couple of manufacturers (Shunyata & IsoTek) to know about their performance specs, but to my surprise the reply that I got from them was they do not measure the performance of their product & they don’t believe in it. Upgrade from WIlson Sabrina I have an even smaller room at 9x12 and I've crammed my Sopra 2's in there and also have had some bass node issues. I know your room is treated, but upgrading to actual bass traps helped me. I have 4 on the front wall, stacked floor to ceiling. Th...
Developing A List Of Tonearm Candidates For A SOTA Turntable @wrm57 thanks for the experience with the Clearaudio Universal. I'm with @neonknight that you really don't hear much about the Universal. I run one now and am very happy with it due to the flexibility of cartridges and weights it can take to chang...
Thumper’s Mother @uncledemp this is so spot on. Appreciate you stepping up. Too many a-holes here and a lot of people with valuable knowledge have left because the lack of respect. We in the world need to get back to basics with each other and respect thy neighbor... |
