Experience with Modwright products? Modwright sounds a lot like Manley when you need service or help. Just super. That’s music to my ears.
Experience with Modwright products? Thank you all for the feedback! I must say that I'm super impressed with these products. I would love to buy them from my dealer friend--not sure I can afford them or want to spend this much. But taking them out of my system won't be easy. ...
Experience with Modwright products? Thank you everyone! I really appreciate your views and time. I really wish I didn’t like this change so much!
So I bought the Willsenton R-800i 120mA is not the ideal bias point. It is the max bias. I contacted the company to confirm this. The manual is ambiguous in this regard. I find 80-110 mA to be good. One of my bias pots failed me. The company mailed me two new ones. The surgery t...
Let the Games Begin Very interesting video!
Auricap XO vs ClarityCap CSA I like them both. I think the CSA line might not be a fair comparison. I'd compare Clarity's CMR line with Auricap. BUT, the CMRs are more expensive.
A previous discussion included a statement about crossover components. @peporter , Yes, the quality of caps in the crossover network can and often does yield differences. Sometimes changing them out doesn’t sound any better--just different. Other times, it can be pretty darn significant of an improvement. My favor...
Too powerful of an amp!? True @carlsbad2 ! So very true. I powered KEF LS50s with a 300B amp! (8 watts) If you don't listen loud, a low powered amp won't be harmful. The other consideration with a low powered amp is lack of headroom.
Have you heard the Goldring Ethos Cartridge? It's been another week of playing records with the Goldring Ethos. It settled down very quickly. After the initial 5-20 hours, it's broken in-from what I can tell in my confirmation bias/subjective mind. :). I don't hear it changing now. What a...
Too powerful of an amp!? Great advice above. We are all reconciling the following truisms: Never under power loudspeakers if you can avoid it. Too little power can damage speakers. When buying amps, don't forget when you buy a 400W mono block, or the like, that it...
New Cartridge Causing Intermittent Popping Bill, your problem would make me go mad for sure! It takes patience, diagnostics, logic, and luck to get out of these situations. I was also concerned about the Chinook. I'm pretty confident in my skills, but I was concerned something happened ...
New Cartridge Causing Intermittent Popping Thank you @noromance ! I agree--so often these situations get messy and even ore frustrating. @duckmanst3 , philosophically you are correct! :)
New Cartridge Causing Intermittent Popping Status update. The dealer was super gracious. The shipped out the new cartridge and it arrived quickly. I pulled out the Feickert and got to work. This is a very easy cartridge to setup on a Technics 1200 GAE (most similar to the G)--grand cla...
How do I know if my systems any good? The folks who say things like, If you're listening at 3 am and can't stop, If you want to put on more and more records like your'e hearing them for the first time, etc.---Those comments resonate with me! When you hit the point where your music ...
New Cartridge Causing Intermittent Popping Thank you @mijostyn ! Your view makes a lot of sense. I'm thinking there's something loose internally--maybe the ground connection the green ground post? I really appreciate your wisdom. I really like this cartridge. It started to open up aft... |
