Is it possible to have too much/too many filters/tweaks?

Any audiophile use computer (MacBook) as your audio streaming source?
I use an old MBAir as a media server. I do have a usb to a DAC if I want to listen to my digital (lossless) crap through my analog system, but I rarely bother.
Recommendation for tube preamp
@atmasphere Thanks for the explanation, but I'm not sure I understand what a "passive equalization circuit" consists of.
Recommendation for tube preamp
@jlbkmb1958 Yes. The first balanced tube phono sections were made by Atma-Sphere in 1989.   \I'm confused.  How do the design a balanced phono stage without any solid state components in the signal path?
Recommendation for tube preamp
Is there any such thing as a balanced fully tube phono amp?  Doesn’t the balance require some solid state components in the signal path?

Yup. Stuff changes over time. I have tons of money into film photography equipment, the current generation is primarily interested in toy cameras when they shoot film. Motorcycle manufacturers are selling more scooters and fewer upscale bikes. Nex...
Anyone remember the days before bells and whistles!
I’ve deleted all mine. Just a turntable, tube phono stage, tube integrated amp, and two speakers. My only control is a volume knob.
Do any McIntosh preamps have non digital filter for bass and treble?
They also seem to have balanced outputs, which means they are really hybrids anyway.
Amplifier Power tubes - important to sound?
I replaced a quad of E-H KT88 with Gold Lions a while ago along with all my phono and preamp tubes.  There was an overall improvement, but it's hard to tell how much was due to the power tubes.
Can hi-end cables benefit less expensive electronics?
I don't know anything about digital systems, but my rule of thumb is to limit the cost of cables to 5% the cost of my overall system.  That seems like a reasonable compromise to keep the cables from being the weak point.
Recommend me a tube integrated amplifier
Lost me at the subwoofer output.
If A.I. took the place of musicians, would you listen to it?
I don't listen to much recorded after about 1980 anyway; it won't be a problem.
Do your ears deceive you?
It’s not that complicated. Don’t buy complete junk that’s going to be a weak link, and don’t spend more than about 5% of your system cost on cables because you can probably get more improvements elsewhere. Then forget about it and enjoy.
That Transformational piece of Gear We All Wish For
Tubes are definite "transformational."  Enjoy.

How many hours do you have on the stylus?  Have you used a test record to verify your setup?
