Luxman Integrated - What do they sound like
Surely you’re not going to make a $6-10k purchase based on what others on the internet "hear" out of their Luxmans compared to other amps... Barring the positive reviews and other feedback here on AG and other forums from Luxman owners, only YOU w...
Q for any Luxman L-509X owners
Just to confirm, the "Separate" button on the Luxman remote DOES work, you just have to do a hard press. Really enjoying the convenience since I discovered this tiny operational detail.
Curious about running a tube pre into a SS integrated
I see both points, but it does kind of defeat the purpose of having the flexibility of the solid state pre and tube pre. With the 509X I have a top of the line integrated that separates the line stage to use any pre I want. It’d be quite an invest...
Innous Zenith MKII and Roon DSP
FWIW:I'm using a Zen MK III and the new firmware has a beta feature where you can use the Zen as an LMS within the Roon interface (Squeezelite emulation). This is not a supported configuration, but I have been able to run the Zen in this configura...
Q for any Luxman L-509X owners
Also, can confirm the "long press" DOES work for the Separate button on the remote... awesome! Now I can switch over to my CL-40 tube pre without walking across the room.
Q for any Luxman L-509X owners
I'm using Klipsch La Scala IIs and in my opinion they're a great match with the 509X. The LS IIs already have pretty stunning dynamics and smooth mids, as well as solid control of the bottom end. The L-509X complements all of those characteristics...
Q for any Luxman L-509X owners
Thanks for further details on this. I'll have to check tonight if it works by holding down the button for 1 second.. I don't think I've done a "long press" on the button before but that would make sense!
Q for any Luxman L-509X owners
Thanks for checking it out for me. I wonder why that button doesn't work? I'm using a tube preamp occasionally and it's a bit of a hassle to walk across the room and push that button on the front of the unit.
Excellent customer service from SVS
It's been about 3 months and it is working great so far.
Excellent customer service from SVS
I also had the amp in my SB-16 go bad after about 4 weeks. While I had the same exceptional customer service experience you did (they shipped a replacement next day and I installed the new amp in about 20 minutes), it does make me wonder about QC ...
Carpenters
I’m listening to the Royal Philharmonic mixes right now in 24/192 and they are amazing. Karen has never sounded better. I love the orchestral arrangements. It was really a nice surprise to find this today.
JBL L5 - Frozen Voice Coil (Woofer)
I suspect it could definitely be the 35 year old CL40 valve preamp that is the culprit more so than my 9 month old Luxman L-509X integrated amp. When the service guy comes over on Friday to replace my La Scala II tweeter, I'll ask him to measure t...
JBL L5 - Frozen Voice Coil (Woofer)
Thanks, the JBLs I think are rated up to 300 watts and I couldn't have been sending more than 50 watts tops. I did hear some crackling during kick drums earlier on in the week, that could have been what did the woofer in.But I am starting to think...
Turning off tube preamp first sends solid state amp into protection?
Thanks this is all good to know.I was aware of the power up/power down sequence but since adding the L509X I leave the power amp on 24/7.By adding the vintage valve pre, it sounds like I'll be having to power down the solid state integrated instea...
Turning off tube preamp first sends solid state amp into protection?
I'm not sure, is that supposed to be happening (passing DC to amp)? I just have my DAC going into the RCA input of the preamp and then the output of the preamp going into the HT bypass (Main In) of the 509X. There shouldn't be any DC current movin...
