Has anyone bi-amped with a Cary SLP-05? Never mind. Looks like you exhausted the combinations. I give up. :)
Has anyone bi-amped with a Cary SLP-05? At a glance it looks like SLP05 to CAD200 via XLR is problematic when both amps are connected. Have you tried this combination?SLP05-> (XLR)-> Cary CAD200-> wooferSLP05-> (RCA)-> Cary CAD211AE-> mid/tweet
Sony 5400 ES vs. Cambridge 840C I haven't heard Cambridge CD player, but redbook on Sony XA5400ES sounds better than any CD players and DAC I've owned. I've listed some of the previously owned gears in my system.
Tube preamp and McCormack DNA-500 Try VTL TL-5.5. It's right at the top of the spectrum of your budget. My impression of this preamp was excellent dynamics, transparency, full and large soundstage.
High End Universal Players ??? I like my Linn Unidisk SC for music. I don't watch a lot of movies though, and it's acceptable in the movie department. I like it better compared to Bel Canto PL-1A, NAD, Denon, and others I've owned.
Shocker - CAL CL 15 vs Marantz KI Pearl SACD I owned CL-15 before, and I agree it's a great sounding CD player. Modern CD players are more neutral sounding. You won't find one that sounds warm and rich like CL-15 easily, unless you go for exotic design.
First Watt F3 or Red Wine Audio 30.2 I have First Watt F5. Check my system and look through the various amps that I've been through. F5 is the most musical sounding amp that I have owned. I do not know how similar or dissimilar F3 and F5 sounds, but you probably will do well with F3....
Sony Playstation 1 for a CD player ??? SCPH-101 is the newer model, circa 2000. The reason SCPH-1001 is highly sought after is due to its excellent AKM single bit DAC and dedicated RCA output. I don't know which DAC SCPH-101 employs.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation
Upgrade amp or speakers? I concur with your findings on the preamp. The difference between a decent preamp (Classe in your case) and a good preamp (ARC in your case) is so much. If I were you I would get the new preamp, let it settle in the system for a few months and let...
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments? The maximum budget is 1k-1.5k for a pair of interconnects. More for speaker cables. That probably covers up to Precision Reference if bought used. The contenders would be Valhalla, Emotion, or SEI-600ii. I'm trying to maximize value/investment rat...
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments? I'm thinking of getting a new set of cables. I haven't invested very much on the cables yet, and I currently run Nordost Valkyrja, Tara Labs RSC Air, and Kimber 8PR speaker cables. How do the Synergistic Tesla line of cables compare to Nordost, Ku...
Most Peaceful Music you've Heard or Own I have long commutes, and I never put on peaceful music and risk dozing off on the wheel. Fun, energetic, and upbeat music works better on the road. Maybe something you can hum along.
You know you're an audiophile if-- you have a weekend car in your garage that you can no longer use because of the stack of empty component boxes on it... *sigh*
dedicated cd player or dvd-cd California Audio Labs CL-15 sounds wonderful, rich, and organic, although it's missing some of the high frequency sparkle. Sony PS1, if you can get over the flimsy and cheap looking case, can bring wonders for mere $50 or less. Or if your budget a...
Best Cd Player under $4000? I have a pair of Focal speakers and I foudn them to be slightly on the leaner side of the neutral. However they are fast, articulate, dynamic, and can sound very very nice with right set of equipments.I don't think you want to augment the sound by... |
