Are "streamers" the new "transports"? Absolutely yes, with the same issues regarding the digital output plus the usability due to the app for the control of the player. Bluesound app is very good, Aurender app is good too but both are somewhat limited (not so for most of the users but...
Reasonable high end interconnects: without breaking the bank Mogami 2791 with Neutrik XLR. Best bang for the buck imho and what I'm using in my system and will use until I will have the cash to buy a full loom of Nordost Tyr or Valhalla.
CD ripper +2 for dbpoweramp, from the guys who made the "accurate rip database possible". Better than EAC imho in everything and offer much more than simple ripping. Yes, you need to pay money and is not free as EAC.
Streaming Qobuz has streaming up to 24/192, at least here in Italy (where was introduced early this year).
Streaming Preamp w/ Phono Linn Akurate DSM.Sounds great, has everything you need now and then, great support. Unfortunately is way out from your budget.Disclaimer:I am a Linn dealer
Has Anyone Heard the (fairly) New Technics Grand Class TT? Dweller is right on his description of the differences between the SL1200 variant.SL1200GAE and SL1200GEG are the same turntable, the GAE was the limited edition version. The SL1200GR (silver)/SL1210GR (black) are the lighter version with a cheape...
Support for Linn digital streamers from dealer network on used equipment You will find a lot of useful info on the Linn forum, also from Linn dealers as me. Btw, there is not too much to know in order to make it work as the Linn streamers are almost plug and play. Fell free to contact me for further details.
Streaming Audio Questions Personally I do not like the computer+dac solution and prefer a dedicated network player. The Bluesound are nice products with a very good app to control; you can find alternatives within the same price range as the Marantz NA6005 (but the app sti...
Resurrecting CD Transport You can try a deep cleaning of the laser (more details can be found here http://lampizator.eu/LAMPIZATOR/TRANSPORT/laser/Laserology.html) and if still do not work send it for service. I do not suggest you to buy a new transport but rip all your CD...
Old Valhalla as Power Chord or New Frey 2 please Disclaimer: I am a Nordost dealer.Valhalla is much better than Frey 2 (that is the replacement of the Brahma).
Conrad Johnson Preamplifier & Tubes Linn Turntable The PV11 was a better sounding unit than the PV9, that's why CJ then introduced the PV9A.
When DVD Audio Extractor doesn't work ... Try DVDAexplorer (it's free), it always works for me (beside few cases .....).
Coax or USB between transport and DAC? "If you are saying that by ripping at 24/96k or 24/192k....": no, I've not said so, a Linn DS engineer said so. Again, there is no advantages in ripping a 16bit CD to 24 bit when your DS will do this job on the fly during the playback. Please read...
Coax or USB between transport and DAC? Audiofreak32, I'm a Linn dealer and one of the first to embrace wholeheartily the DS bandwagon (at least here where I live and work)....... so I know a little about it. A different matter are "real" 24 bit files but one CD (that is 16 bit) ripped ...
Coax or USB between transport and DAC? Audiofreak32, CDs are 16 bit and ripping them at 24 bit will not give you any benefit. Then, IMHO, FLAC is the way to go if you want to manage the library in a convenient way because WAV doesn't support the tags. |
