BNC and USB from streamer to DAC Asynchronous USB delivers just data - you cannot make it any better. The only disadvantage in comparison to S/Pdif is the amount of electrical noise injected into DAC, that can affect the sound. When you have both cables connected USB should win.
Krell Class A/B power amps, do 'anticipator circuits' work? Douglas Self stated that increasing bias often leads to increased distortions. He also measured it. The reason for that is changing transconductance. Transconductance is output current to driving voltage gain, that is rapidly changing when two tra...
Krell Class A/B power amps, do 'anticipator circuits' work? It is possible to linearize, with the feedback, any amount of output non-linearities. The difference between class A and AB is in the amount of feedback (tenfold). Increasing bias without lowering negative feedback won't achieve anything.
10agw +10agw=7agw? need some big Banana's levy03, I installed spades on mine. Be careful - each cable consists of multiple insulated strands, but one of the strands is not solid. It is stranded (many very thin strands). I'm not sure why, and perhaps they changed design, but if you ever...
Your system struck by lightning? What did you learn? CMOS chips were very susceptible to static, since even small amount of momentary current (in order of 30mA) could create a "Latch-up" where totem pole output (NMOS+PMOS) would become SCR-like structure. Latch-up would draw current and temperature...
Message from the Past: We were never against tone controls At my age it becomes increasingly difficult to climb the stage and adjust sound to my liking.
Recommendation for a replacement speaker cable I enjoy AZ Satori, but it is very thick.
Using 200w amp with 300w rms speaker Sensitivity is correct because we are measuring how sensitive the speaker output volume is to the input signal. My bad. Thank you millercarbon for explanation.
What if any, is the difference between a band or a group? Spencer Davis Group - 4 musicians.
How do you avoid buying new LPs that sound just like CDs? I'm not sure if digital recording has anything to do with it. My friend works for very large recording studio, known for many highly praised recordings, that dumped analog recording (Studer) decades ago. The more important issue is compression, ...
Using 200w amp with 300w rms speaker +1 knotscottSensitivity: 90dB/W/mIt means that 1W from 1m will produce 90dB. The fact that you have two speakers adds 3dB. Because it is not open space, reflections in the room will likely add another 3dB. So, your speakers driven by 1W power w...
Using 200w amp with 300w rms speaker The power recommendation is for MAXIMUM safe power.Yes, but it is maximum average power, not maximum peak power. Average power is equivalent to dissipated heat.Pavg = Vrms*Irms Peak power for sinewave is twice larger than average power. RMS o...
What is the best way to play music with DAC/wireless? I don't stream yet, but for the playback from HD I chose Airplay. WiFi makes all things on the computer side irrelevant. You can use any computer with any speed and any amount of RAM and it won't make a difference since what is being send is dat...
When did you digitize your CDs and LPs? I still haven’t... I’m surprised that people can hear any media induced jitter from CD or CD-R. I can understand that on the receiving end (DAC) D/A conversion clock has to be recreated from incoming S/Pdif stream, but in CDP constant linear speed is created by comp...
When did you digitize your CDs and LPs? I still haven’t... I don't use CDP at all. All my music comes from HD (where it is just data) and I also tend to buy CDs used, mostly from Amazon. Audio CD-Rs create easy legal way of copying CDs from friends. I copy such CDs to HD, but have to keep Audio CD-R co... |
