Why spend more than $25 per piece of equipment on vibration reduction?
I have to agree with stuartk - there are multiple types of products that all make some sort of impact. That impact will vary based on the equipment, the foundation the equipment sits on, and your ears. Like stuartk, I have tried multiple products ...
Placement of Single Subwoofer Affecting Sound of Main Speakers
With the long transmission wave bottom octaves produce, sub placement is a tricky thing to do well depending on the room. Experiment multiple places and go with 1. what sounds best 2. has WAF 3. doesn't degrade from the main speakers. Two or more...
Gryphon Essence Stereo vs Pass Labs XA series
Hi Jeff - I had a 160.8 and it was a really nice amp - great tone, musical (meaning not artificially boosted bass or treble) - but compared to a pair of JC1s and a Gryphon Diablo 300, it didn't have the same drive or gusto with complex music or lo...
Big Below 15k used that can play loud as heck
2nd the vote for large Legacy speakers. I have a pair of Aeris and they are the first speakers that come close to providing the same feeling I used to get when I was involved with SPL car audio competition. Good luck!
Short list of musical subwoofers
I've heard both and think the REL are just better overall - faster, more dynamic, yet call less attention to themselves. FWIW, I would recommend getting at least two subs and place them carefully. The more points you pressurize the room with the b...
Cardas Clear or AudioQuest Carbon USB cable
I've used both and settled on the Cardas. IMO, the Cardas is a little smoother and more musical and the AQ is a little more incisive and dynamic at the fringes. Like everything else, though, YMMV.
Innuos owners. Chime in
I have an Elrod Silver PC on a MKII and have tried a few others - they all provided an upgrade from stock, IMO. I agree 100% with antigrunge2 - isolation seemed to yield great benefit as well. I tried Isoacoustic and Stillpoints and actually ended...
Experiences by Owners of Lyngdorf Integrated Amps using the Room Correct feature
I heard the 2170 at a friend's house and we compared it against a Pass 250.8 and a xp10. I don't recall the speakers as he has since changed them. It sounded pretty good and tamed some nodes he has in his very square listening room, however it los...
Isoacoustics don’t seem to work for me, help
Another vote for the Townshend podiums. They work really well.
Has anyone used the new Innuos 2.0 Sense music app? Compared it to Roon?
After reading through all the posts I had to try this update for my Zenith MKII. I was on version 1.4.9, so I hadn't updated it in awhile. It wasn't possible to compare Sense immediately against 1.4.9 due to download and update times, but regardle...
GaN Amp & Speaker Popping Sound At Power On
I don't know about the GaN400, but the Merrill Veritas amps (class D) I had were meant to be left on at all times - and honestly sounded better to me after a day or two of constant power.
Any experience buying or selling to the Audio Foreign Office in Portugal?
I go where the gear takes me :)
Any thoughts on Pass X150.8 ?
I have heard the 150.8 vs. the 250.5 and the xa25 (along with Parasounds JC1s, Merrill Veritas, and lastly a Gryphon Diablo 300. The 150.8 was the most analytical of the pass amps - I liked the 250.5 the best of the Pass. The xa25 was a little too...
Open House With Audio Components
Pack it up. We held a couple of open houses a few years ago and you would not believe how many people were distracted by the gear instead of looking at the house. Fast forward a week, all the gear was put away, and suddenly the realtor got "real" ...
I saved alot of money.
Anytime you can find sound you enjoy, that is all that matters. Happy listening!
