Speaker choice without need for deep bass
My Nautilus 804 with one 6.5 midrange and two 6.5 in woofers had no issues. Assuming that cutting the low bass off would reduced the required bass driver size/area and cabinet volume.  I would like to see two 6.5 inch low/mid in a 2 way setup, D'...
How does 10+ year old technology compare to modern: Musical Fidelity M1 DAC
@johnnokathi Nope, still sitting there were I parked it. Not connected. Too many other projects ahead of the comparison (Schiit 3 vs M1).

@bgross will read up, but looks like very rare (often =price) from europe: https://www.soundstagenetwork.com/revequip/equation_7.htm

@yoyoyaya Price has really nothing to do with physics. Example: the Nautilus 804 (ok, those where $2.5k) as well as the $0.3k Infinity RS625 (example) had no issue delivering the desired SPL in my large room, with the crossover set at 50 Hz.  Or ...
I bought 4 subwoofers and I'm absolutely not doing a DBA! Hah!
@erik_squires  talking about 'air' and 'enlarged soundstage' with respect to subwoofers: "It's not about how many subs but about the sub to main speaker integration": how would you go about better 'intergration'?
I bought 4 subwoofers and I'm absolutely not doing a DBA! Hah!
Another benefit of using a subwoofer amp (often done as 'plate amps'), and the very first reason I used mine (aside from beying ICE design, well working/sounding, powerful): The amp came with adjustable crossover frequency and volume control (unli...

Wharfedale EVO4.3 or 4.4 3 way (large 2" dome mid, AMT tweeter. 2x 5" low/mid (2x 6.5 for 4.4) https://images.crutchfieldonline.com/ImageHandler/trim/750/457/products/2019/36/336/g336EVO43WN-F.jpg

Dali Oberon 5 or 7 decent candidates? looks like 2 way, with 2x 5 (5.25) or 2x 7 low/mid?
Is it possible to find a good DAC for under $50, 000?
No, it not possible. If you don't spend at least $100k for a DAC, there is always a chance someone else may waste more money than you on a DAC, and therefore believes his is better than yours.  Plus, you already spent $10k for a few feet of cable...

Its the 2nd post I read today that mentions "enlarged soundstage" and "air" in the context of woofer/subwoofer ("2 subs provide enlarge soundstage and more air").  I never brought the low frequencies in context with 'air' and 'soundstage'.  Shou...

@iseland "Plateamp": I moved my "plate amp'' out of the sub box into a separate housing. Its still a plate amp (components mounted on a plate), just a 'plate am in a different housing'. Given the same space for the sub, I wanted that extra volume...
There is no substitute for cubic inch or in this case surface area
How does sound stage and woofer size go together? I thought that is more a characteristic of mids and highs.  I think of multiple small woofers only in the sense of how HIGH they can go. Given the same volume (moved air), the key to me is that I ...

@knotscott The NX Bravo crosses over to the tweeter at 950 Hz. That is an AWFUL lot of engergy going to the single tweeter at high listening levels.  Speaker size: Height 41.875″ (Without base) Width: 8″ Depth: 11.5″ Sensitivity: 91dB Nominal Im...

Hi/low pass: in my setup, the receiver 'cuts' the main speakers if at a selected frequency (I use 50 Hz, high pass) and sends the low frequencies (under 50 Hz, low pass) to the sub out (to sub amplifier). With small Epicure 5 currently in the rota...

@buellrider97 Interesting: " Adagio: same 6.5 -inch mid/woofers constructed from a fabric layer sandwiched between two skins of ceramic doping; same 1.8" circular ribbon tweeter with a shielded 3.5-oz high-flux, highly temperature-resistant magnet...
