Audible Illusions Modulus 3A troubles If it was just the phono section, it could be you are running a very low output moving coil cartridge. Unless it has the optional John Curl phono board, the regular Audible Illusions phono board does not have much gain.
SST Ampzilla 2000 v2 vs Son of Ampzilla II I purchased the Son 11 after a direct comparison with the Van Alstine SET500. I’ve also had a Krell 250a and a Forte 1a (Pass deigned) in my home. I found the Son to have the most holographic 3d images of the bunch, deep real(not artificially tigh...
SST Ampzilla 2000 v2 vs Son of Ampzilla II Have no idea about the bridging issue. I do know that a single SST Son of Ampzilla II effortlessly drives my old trusty Von Schweikert V4s to sonic bliss.😁
Anything SS sounds better than D'Agostino ? A fan of SST Son of Ampzilla ii here !!
Anyone at home at Krell? I debated awhile back sending my old amp back to them for refurbishing. Had an RA number and everything. Luckily, I never quite got around to sending it back. I feel for those whose equipment Krell is now holding.
The new Coda S5.5 amplifier: It's a "Petite Beast"! Maybe I’m naive, but this is the first time I’ve heard that the major mags require you to do paid advertising to get reviewed. Other than one manufacturer apparently suggesting this, is their other evidence confirming this is the case? It sounds ...
Looking to downsize and for suggestions for amp(s) SST Son of Ampzilla 2 . Stereo and 40lbs.
Audible Illusions Preamp Yeah, I’ve heard a lot of the stories about horrendous repair turnaround , and have no reason to doubt them. Maybe I’ve been lucky in that my units have never required repair. Ive had excellent results in both sound and longevity with the Russian ...
Audible Illusions Preamp You know that line about “having to pry it from my dead cold fingers”? That’s how I feel about my 3a….and 3b!! Love em both.
Anyone else treated poorly by AVA? I bought a SET 500, and it was very good but just not quite my cup of tea. Returned it within their 30 day eval period and received refund within a day or two of their receipt of it back. All my communications were with Mary, and I found her to be...
Speakers 10 years old or older that can compete with todays best, Original Von Schweikert VR-4s. A timeless design. RIP Albert.
EVS Music Purifiers - Amazed by how much improvement they make! Anyone else try them? I have the Enacom version from back in the day. They did some of the nice things mentioned above in this thread. I’m not running them currently though, because they squashed dynamics, especially macro dynamics, and also tended to smear, a bit, lea...
The new Coda S5.5 amplifier: It's a "Petite Beast"! Yeah, I thought that room sounded good, but no better than a number of others. As usual, I was disappointed by the limited musical material used to display equipment at the show. While I have nothing against a female jazz singer, a bass and a pian...
Pass X150.5 or Odyssey Stratos monos? The only Pass design I’ve ever had is an old Forte 1a. Recently I had it recapped by Jon Soderberg, who used to work at Threshold. I added a Triode Wire 7 plus power cord….and the combined result was just jaw dropping. I’d go with Pass:)
Vacuum Tube preamp with my KRELL KAV 250a, a no no......WHY? I know zero about the technical issues being discussed in this thread. I can speak only of my own experience. I ran a Krell KAV 250a with an Audible Illusions Modulus 3A preamp for over 20 years….without a single technical problem. And it sounded ... |
