The new Coda S5.5 amplifier: It's a "Petite Beast"!
Yeah, I thought that room sounded good, but no better than a number of others. As usual, I was disappointed by the limited musical material used to display equipment at the show. While I have nothing against a female jazz singer, a bass and a pian...
Pass X150.5 or Odyssey Stratos monos?
The only Pass design I’ve ever had is an old Forte 1a. Recently I had it recapped by Jon Soderberg, who used to work at Threshold. I added a Triode Wire 7 plus power cord….and  the combined result was just jaw dropping. I’d go with Pass:)
Vacuum Tube preamp with my KRELL KAV 250a, a no no......WHY?
I know zero about the technical issues being discussed in this thread. I can speak only of my own experience. I ran a Krell KAV 250a with an Audible Illusions Modulus 3A preamp for over 20 years….without a single technical problem. And it sounded ...
SS Amp Choices
I liked the SST Son of Ampzilla 2 better than the AVA Set 500 in my Von Schweikert VR-4/ Audible Illusions rig. I see the Music Room has a used one on sale for 2 grand. YMMV

How does the 5.5 treat the presence and “weight” of instruments in front of you? With certain amps, usually ones that are a bit forward in presentation, you can almost feel the palpable weight of the instruments in the room with you. It’s a combina...
Handling Heavy Amps
40-45 pounds is pretty much the weight limit for me as well these days. Right now I’m running an SST Son of Ampzilla 2 (with a sound I’d describe as equal parts tubish , Class A ish and, Class AB ish) into first gen Von Schweikert VR-4s. Amp is 40...

Am I correct that there is no way of purchasing a 5.5 with a trial period or any money back return period,  in case the buyer concludes it’s not the best match for his or her system?
power cord for pass 250.8
OP indicated his sound was on the laid back sound, and was looking for something a bit more forward sounding. Which cables would tend to go in that direction? Something by Nordost, maybe?
Cd player
The most surprising CD sound I’ve ever heard (don’t laugh now) was from an ancient Pioneer Elite PD 65 Cd player. Very analog-like, with a very nice  sounfstage, detailed with a touch of lower mid warmth. If you can find a used one in good conditi...

Soundstage-wise, are all images at the speaker level and behind …or do images also project forward of the speakers. I’m principally thinking of solo vocals or instruments in this regard. Thx:)
