What would you save in a fire?
@larsman I feel for you with the negatives. I have thousands of sports and concert negatives as well, but have scanned them all and they are stored at cloud sites, so I would have that to fall back on.
Infinite Slope .5 speakers - does anyone have promo material or any specs on this speaker?
@elliottbnewcombjr these appear to be some hand made speakers using Infinite Slope components. Not sure they are anything the factory put out unless they are a one-off. If this is the auction on ebay in NY (photos look the same) to me they are way...
Infinite Slope .5 speakers - does anyone have promo material or any specs on this speaker?
@elliottbnewcombjr thanks for the tips.  I might reach out to Source and see if they know anything about this speaker.  I don't know why I have not done that before.  I also wondered if it was just a speaker designed to be part of a package, but t...
Infinite Slope .5 speakers - does anyone have promo material or any specs on this speaker?
@cdc Yea I have a lot of stuff on the prior models as well, which is why it has perplexed me as to why info on this model has been nonexistent. These .5 speakers seem to have been produced somewhat late in the company’s life (they don't appear in ...
Long XLR Interconnects
Check out SVS cables. I use these between my amp and preamp, and you can get lengths up to 15 m. The 12 m length is 65 bucks a cable.   Also, I have not tested them myself but others in various forums speak highly of Snake Oil cables.
Retirement integrated amp for a “fiscal conservative”
Yamaha A-S3200 comes in right at your max budget but can be found on sale or open box. The Technics SU-R1000 also gets good reviews but may be hard to find and is over budget unless you find an open box.  PS Audio Stellar Strata MK2 comes in about...
Can you recommend Jazz for some one that doesn't like Jazz?
@fthompson251 I have been of a similar mindset, but have recently been able to appreciate some jazz offerings.  What got me "primed" to be more open minded about this genre was listening to Internet Radio Station Jazz 24 out of Seattle.  I have it...
Thoughts: Mofi Sourcepoint 888 vs Fyne Audio 501sp?
I heard the 888 at Axpona and was very very impressed. I was equally impressed with the SVS Ultra Evolution Pinnacle. They are also very worthwhile considering and in the same price category. I also was very pleased that day with the sound of the ...
Looking for a narrow baffle small footprint speaker
Totem speakers always punch way above their price point. The Forrest Signature are 7.8 inches wide floor standers at 8K.  I have owned and listened to their bookshelf speakers and honestly even the tiniest ones will fill a room with sound.
Physically Comfortable Headphones
I have not compared dozens of models, so my sample size is not large, but the Focal Elex headphones (open back) I ended up with I find I can wear for long stretches with no issue.  I often will have them on much of the day if listening while worki...
Speakers that disappear
I had Focal Aria 906’s on the factory stands and could easily make mine disappear at the front of the room.  Soundstage was nice and wide, and you could not pinpoint the exact location of the speakers. Phantom center channel was right where it sho...
High end bookshelf speakers for Small room
Someone else mentioned this as well but the PS Audio FR5 is well worth a listen.  It beat out to my ear many a larger speaker when I head them demo'd at Axpona in the spring and they are getting very good reviews. https://www.psaudio.com/products/...
Which HDMI cable for I2S?
I switched out my HDMI cables to SVS branded cables a couple of months ago and felt there was a slight difference in my video clarity.  Well made and nice looking products. They now make interconnects and speaker cable as well.
Recordable CD/DVDs are vanishing too
I was at my medical practice the other day and noted that each of the reception stations had a sleeve of 50 CDs next to each of them. I asked what that was about and they said when people need their medical records or copies of x-rays or things th...
Looking for RCA cables from preamp to amp?
I recently discovered the Periapt line of cables and have traded out my headphone cable along with a couple of others for this company’s offerings. I find them extremely well built and a good value. They sound great to my ear. Give them considerat...
