Treating the ceiling and floor, who else has had great results? This may not be an option for some, but Armstrong makes suspended acoustic ceiling tiles. I used these in my sound room and they worked wonderfully to mitigate an upper midrange glare. They are also inexpensive and look good.
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore? @bipod72 , thank you. I will give WWNO a shake. The WPR classical stream in Wisconsin appears to be a mono stream. Why would anyone do that?
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore? I wish someone could answer this question as it pertains to radio. Wisconsin Public Radio recently “updated” their entire program schedule dividing it into two parts, talk radio and news, and the other half “all classical”. The classical half bro...

Phono Stage advice for Mono listening My tonearm, a Morch DP-8, mounted on an Amazon Reference TT, has a removable arm wand which allows for quickly switching from stereo to a dedicated Mono cartridge without having to make any adjustments. I went full out with a dedicated Mono cartr...
suggestions for new phono stage I can vouch for the Phono 70 Signature. It was the best of several phono preamps that I auditioned for my low output Ortofon cartridge.
Suggestions for phono preamp for LOMC's @lewm Good question. The Phono 70 has 70 db of gain and it is my understanding that it is not a good match for anything >.5mV output. The designer of the unit stated it was specifically designed for LOMCs, primarily in the .2 mV to .5 mV ra...
Suggestions for phono preamp for LOMC's My recommendation is to get a phono preamp designed specifically for LOMCs. Over the years I have pretty much limited my phono cartridges to the low output variety because they seem to sound best in my system. The phono preamp I use is the Parado...
Kirmuss 'In the Groove' Ultrasonic Record Restorer - Upscale Audio Edition I own and have used the Kirmuss for the last 5 years. There are not 21 steps to clean a record. You press the start button twice and that's it. The record is clean in about 5 minutes. You do have to dry the record off, obviously. The unit has ...
300B, 2A3 experiances wanted I have a TU-8900 with the Lundahl transformers and Gold Lion 300B's driving my AG Trios and am very happy with this combination, having had many amplifiers in the chain. At the price point of the TU-8900, nothing comes close. Despite the high e...
Your Ultimate Phono Preamp: Which One Would You Choose? I have had a half dozen fairly expensive phono preamps mated to my relatively low output phono cartridge (currently an Ortofon A95) and the clear winner for me was a relatively inexpensive Paradox Phono 70 Signature. Michael Fremer reviewed this ...

Tuneful Cables by High-End Audio Can anyone comment on their experience with Chinese "Odin" interconnect cables in comparison to those described above. In particular, I am looking for a set of interconnects for my low power SET integrated amplifier. I have found that some inter...
Cable elevators One thing you might consider is rather than using cable risers, suspend your speaker cables with string from the ceiling. The advantage here is your speaker cables can be completely isolated from the power cords and other connectors because afte... |
