Do some DACs "handle" sibilance better than others?
I haven’t heard sibilance be an issue with DACs in practice but I suppose anything is possible and certainly different DACs can sound quite different.
The cool factor- who has it?
Roy Orbison…..very cool!
Tune of the Day
Ouch.
Is AI going to kill Hifi?
My advice is if it’s related to HAL, DO NOT TRUST IT!
Has anyone here set up a system with tiered subwoofers handling different bass spectrums?
Hmm most speakers worth consideration should go down below say 100hz.    Not to say one couldn’t explore a three box external crossover solution somehow. Could be an interesting if not very practical approach if done well.   Something different ...
Brain Farts w/ Roon Nucleus
Nice!  $30 solutions are the best kind and don’t happen often in these parts.  I run Roon Core/server on a modest Beelink Gemini j45 mini PC currently, DSP in play all the time, and with very good results.  It’s about 6 years old though and modes...
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
Hmm Astral Weeks was groundbreaking indeed.  As was Sgt Pepper.  As was “Days of Future Passed” and early Pink Floyd. Each in different ways.   Revolver and  Pet Sounds to some extent as well were at minimum early seeds for prog rock. The Beatles’...
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
Prog rock was/is very ambitious artistically.    Therefore of course few care about it anymore these days other than a handful of dedicated enthusiasts.  Kinda like high end audio itself.  The two go hand in hand IMHO.
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
What is prog rock?  This is a job for AI: “ Progressive rock, often shortened to "prog rock" or simply "prog," is a subgenre of rock music that emerged primarily in the United Kingdom during the mid- to late-1960s [[1]](https://teachrock.org/les...
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
@audio-b-dog more a musical concept piece from the days when prog rock on general was becoming a big thing  than a song that tries to cover the history of music from primitive drumbeats to harpsichord to organ to eventually electric guitar and mel...

This covers it.
Is it possible to really know what you're doing?
It’s a total potshot and potential waste of lots of money whenever one does not know what they are doing.    Options: 1) live and learn and pay the price along the way 2) go with gear that someone who knows what they are doing integrated for yo...
Attention Horn Owners
Good choice @earthbound. External crossover like minidsp can solve sub integration effectively if needed.  DSP/eq another option. Always a way to skin the cat….
Attention Horn Owners
I like Volti I have heard.  Zu not so much. Agree with the ear fatigue comment from what I have heard over the years,  but will say they finally sounded more acceptable to me last time I heard at CAF 2024.    Personally for better bass, if I were...
Buying used from Canada
It’s a surprise how much imported stuff will cost.  Try it and you will know for sure and can let us all know.  Willing to bet the price has not gone down as was promised.    My daughter got a small very light package from China recently after pa...
