VPI Traveller
I'll add one more to Stringreen's list of carts that work well with VPI- Lyra Helicon
Does this amp have a problem or is it OK to buy?
It might be normal for Jolida but I would stand clear of it. Humming bothers me and I won't stand for it. To me an amp humming has no place in high end audio.
Just sold my Dynavector XV-1s
"The question I have now...does it de-value the cart. by not having Dynavector do the repair? Will the Soundsmith repair cost me more than just the repair?"To me, as a buyer, I would answer by asking how old is it and how many hours on it? If it is...
ARC SP-6 Warmup time
I've had the SP9, SP11 & SP14 and none of them ever needed more than 30-60 seconds to end mute mode. Agrre with others that you should call ARC and send it in.
Doge 8 with Berning ZH-270
I had the Doge 8 for a short while and remember it having very nice bass extension, but certainly not excessive in my (fairly large) room. A wonderful sounding pre amp by the way. I did have to move on due to excessive hissing with LOMC cartridges...
Two and a half hour audition of the Raidho C1.1
So who's gonna get the last word in? My money is on Dracule1
Just sold my Dynavector XV-1s
Collecting on a claim could be difficult unless the package shows clear evidence of damage, or the shipper lost the package. I hope you figure out the serial number issue. Not saying they all do but I know all the cartridges I have/ had all have t...
Vacuum Tube Display Case
Timing was good on this thread for me. I had mine scattered around in cardboard boxes like others. I just got myself organized by buying a wall mount adjustable open shelving unit at Home Depot. That was the easy part. I inventoried my collection ...
Doge 8 Clarity
Alx,Sounds like you got a real lemon. Glad to hear you got a full refund. I did hear from a few people that although the Clarity was better regarding hissing with LOMC carts, it was still an issue. I ended up passing. Thanks for all your responses.
"blown speakers"
Manitunc,Don't rule out the shipper dropping the package as this happens a lot more than one would think. The package could drop and land flat, so no damage would be evident to the box or the outside of the speaker, but cause internal damage like ...
Equipment you just must get if you can
And I agree with you as well Dave.My problem is although I love the way my system sounds in my family room, I know there is a lot I can do to make it sound even better. But can't due to WAF. One thing that just happened recently was I moved a (hig...
Equipment you just must get if you can
Although a dedicated audio room set up just the way one wants it sounds ideal, I have read that a few have been disappointed being secluded from the rest of their family. Particularly the ones with this room in the basement level of their home.
45 rpm on VPI Aries
If your motor is at a height close to the transition from 33 to 45 it could do that?Try raising the motor? I would also take the recommendations from the above posts.
Tracking force and Unipivot tonearms
I had the JMW9 sig but now the JMW10 which is very similar sounding. Very good luck with my Benz Ruby 3, Lyra Helicon and Sumiko Blackbird. Not so much Shelter cartridges.
2 tape decks- 1 tape monitor loop
Thanks Al, and yes I did read your post. I didn't want to hijack that thread so reason for this one. OK, nuff said. I just ordered the Niles switch box. I can't take the risk of doing any damage to any of my components. Thanks guys!
