Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @kclone Well, it may depend upon what you mean by burning in. All the inputs are digital so there is no signal going through on stand-by as there is no power being supplied to the digital circuits. The analog circuits I suppose are being kept...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @blang Supercapacitors, like all capacitors, have a limited lifetime. In the case of supercapacitors it’s usually measured in cycles, the ones in the Musetec for 500,000 cycles. It’s hard to know what that means for normal DAC use. As you know i...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @kclone As @lordmelton wrote, the break-in of your Musetec is usually not in a straight line. Just keep listening and it will get there. There are some very fine, and expensive, capacitors used inside and I think those are the components that t...
Thoughts on the various platter materials used in Pro-Ject's midrange turntables? @syr1990 It's shameful that audio manufacturers often don't fully describe what you are getting. [I'm involved in some discussions about DACs and finding out what's actually inside some of these is detective work.] IMO platter weight is perhap...
Chinese Cables that sound good @antigrunge2 I also bought a fine Chinese power cord, Viborg VP1606. But what I find objectionable is Kimber buying Chinese loudspeaker cable for $15 and selling it to us for $644. There is nothing very special about braided cable. It's been ...
Thoughts on the various platter materials used in Pro-Ject's midrange turntables? IMO the weight of a platter is a very important consideration. What do each of these weigh? On acrylic and vinyl, you may be better off without a mat. It's worth trying.
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @turcoda Singxer has primarily been known for its devices that input USB and output I²S. In the earlier days of PC DAC use, many DACs did not have this function at a very high level and this sort of extra component was often used. LKS made a sim...
Chinese Cables that sound good I recently terminated a pair of Chinese copies of Kimber 12TC. They are not advertised as Kimber but seem to be a very close copy. In a post here someone wrote that Kimber can tell the difference between its braid and that of a Chinese copy. I'...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @kclone Sorry to hear that. I wonder if the issue is parts, which he sources from all over the world. That's been a problem these days for manufacturers of all sorts.
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @btscott The question of a return privilege after purchase has come up earlier in the thread. One post, in particular, wrote of difficulties. As you wrote of a dealer offering returns, I wonder if you'd care to share your purchase experience.
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @btscott Thanks for your forthright appraisal, both of hte Musetec and of this thread. I also thought my $1500 DAC (LKS 004) could not be improved upon THAT much by a $3000 DAC with a similar architecture. I bought the Musetec after a lengthy PM...
Which NAS should I choose? A NAS is fine if you have a collection of your own to rip to it. I have an inexpensive Synology NAS with a single 4TB disk in it. It works beautifully and sends its data directly to an SOtM digital bridge. The sound is great. I access it from ...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @kclone You have a unique set-up so It will be fascinating to read of your impressions. Just as interesting might be a comparison with the Denafrips Terminator, if you still have it or remember it well. Welcome to the conversation.
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @sirnui Just goes to show there are many routes to audio nirvana, all depending on what you may have in front of the Musetec Interesting that the earlier LKS MH-DA004 was (and still is, I think) available in two forms. A more expensive one that...
Classical Music for Aficionados @edcyn I could only find it on EMI-Warner. That might also account for the unexpectedly fine SQ. IIRC Muti has been under contract to them for most of his career. |
