SS vs Tube Phono SUT/Output Stage Pass Labs. Solid state, but Nelson uses MOSFETs which sound close to tubes without being too “warm” or “rolled off”.
Anyone Paid Tariffs on Chinese Imports Lately? I bought Denafrips DAC and headphone amp for a close to $10K and paid nothing. They were shipped from China.
Your journey...to Audio Note (and beyond?) Poor bass. It is not a gear for rock. Although I am planning to buy a kit and make DAC 5 and maybe an amp just for fun.
Is there any fan of Mettalica here? Certainly! Although I don’t actually want to reproduce concert sound at all. My goal, is, in fact, the opposite.
Does it have to sound good for you to like it? Except Parsons knows about gear and sound way more than any audiophile. Or even whole bunch if them.
Power Cables DAC - maybe. Streamer? No. Is your desktop computer faster, dissipate less heat, screen seem sharper and colors start popping out when you user expensive power cord? Try it. Streamer us just an ARM computer.
Tidal removing all MQA @anotherbob - this is not always true and not because analog is superior or not. The reason is that mastering on quality LP is better. See, stream is often CD mastering, even if it is 24/96. They stream to you what was made for CD before downsampl...
Non-fatiguing speakers in $10K range? @rooze - yes, thanks! I am watching if 48R happens to show up slightly used... :-)
When did you last update your Wifi firmware? Normally you set it to auto-update. However, sometimes manufacturer stops servicing old models. For added security get a Firewalla if you are concerned.
Ethernet cables Think about twisted pair, coaxial, fiber, satellite, multiple servers, firewalls, bridges, routers, optical/electric conversions, and back again between your house and the streaming server. Data is sliced into packets, transmitted via different ro...
Would you still pay $10k or more for a turntable not full analog front end these days ? @lewm - they are delivered without any losses over USB connection as are bits you write and read from USB flash drive or a hard disk. Else you would write one thing and read another. USB does not lose anything, ever, unless media (SSD, flash) is d...
Would you still pay $10k or more for a turntable not full analog front end these days ? @grislybutter good for you, so you already know everything you need.
Would you still pay $10k or more for a turntable not full analog front end these days ? @soix - your question includes multiple other components. Please re-read my information. I said bits come identical from $50 device and from $50K device. It is trivial to verify having proper equipment. Now, you are changing this to "sounds diffe...
Would you still pay $10k or more for a turntable not full analog front end these days ? @grislybutter - Net is designed to deliver perfect bits. It transmits ridiculous amount of information every second and a packet becomes garbled it is rejected by the receiver and retransmitted. Can someone imagine military encrypted data to come...
Would you still pay $10k or more for a turntable not full analog front end these days ? @soix - I said everyone is free to spend their money the way that want. They are also free to think what they want. They may even disagree with professionals. Their choice. But stream is exactly the same in $1K streamer (actually, in $50 streamer... |
