Speaker Support - Three Feet or Four
Geoff, you’re just going to leave us hanging for 6 years? What do you think is best for sound quality?
Tell us about your acoustic treatments
Long way to go. I’ve got plenty of absorption panels but I know I need bass trapping and probably some diffusion at some point. The bass trapping has taken awhile because I’m still learning what the best course of treatment is. I’ve heard you can’...
How loud do you play music?
Wearing earplugs while mowing is important. Once I started using them, I would realize that after I got done mowing there was no longer that slight ringing in my ears that I hadn’t really noticed was there before. Safety first. Musical enjoyment s...

Tonight I did some more experimenting with shungite. I listening to a track without the shungite and became familiar with it and had it fresh in my mind. I then placed a shungite pyramid on the outside of the breaker box, with the point facing awa...
How loud do you play music?
It depends on the listening session, but the best sessions are where you turn it up and pressurize the room with sound you can hear and feel. It’s a real treat to be able to turn it up and not hear any distortion from the system nor rattles from a...
Interconnect Directionality
To clarify, the interconnects in my example have no shield at all. Just 3 solid-core wires (1 signal and 2 for return) with cotton insulation on each wire hand twisted together.  Connectors are eichmann bullets.

My experiment with tourmaline has made me wonder. If the electrical “signal” is affected by mere proximity to certain objects, what is already affecting my system that I’m not aware of? Does running your power lines in steel conduit sound differen...

I received a chunk of tourmaline in the mail. It’s about half a pound, 4” in length and 2” in diameter. I placed it on top of the electrical panel near the two hot main cables (120V US system) coming in with the grains parallel to the two cables. ...

From Paul McGowen:“The prototype amplifiers didn’t have output fuses. It wasn’t until we got to the production versions that we added them, and that’s when the trouble started. The production amplifier didn’t sound as good as the prototype: thinne...

While I don’t disagree that expectation bias is alive and well, I find that I can almost always flush it out through extended listening sessions and swapping back and forth. I’m not trying to promote a certain product so I can sell something; I’m ...
Why Do Schumann Resonators Work?
What’s the reason some manufacturers say to elevate the units? With wavelengths in the thousands of miles long, I don’t see how placement would matter in the slightest.
Why Do Schumann Resonators Work?
@mahgister. You have peaked my curiously. Please tell me more about these stones and crystals. What type and where do you place them?
Why Do Schumann Resonators Work?
I found some interesting comments over at Audio Circle:Concerning the effects of these devices:”Installing the SW1 on top of one of the speakers and switching it on changed the spatial representation of these recordings. 2-d became much more 3-d, ...
