Opinions and choices for a small speaker for mid sized room.
I have not heard, but would be interested in hearing the Golden Ear BRX stand-mount speaker. That's it. A lot of great choices out there and good recommendations.
What speaker do you passionately want to demo?
Yes, oh yes. Borresen 05s would be a thrill to hear.  I'd also like to listen to top of the line Tidal and Rockport loudpeakers.
My swarm sub system is in The Absolute Sound !!
+1 on jnovak    Beautiful room that is functional. Lovely home too.
Wyred 4 Sound and Thiels
I had my brother's 2.3s for a half year with various power amps back in the late 90s (I owned ML SL3s then). I have owned and used an STI-1000 for at least 6+ years now, first with now long gone Dynaudio Sapphires and that sounded fine overall; th...
Vivid Audio Speakers
Have to side with prof and his impressions. I have immensely enjoyed listening to that 'extra' clarity of Vivid loudspeakers at RMAF over many years. And after the auditioning I have always been sure they'd be fatiguing over the long haul unless t...
List your breakthrough products that you’ve discovered on this audiophile Journey.
The single greatest bang for the buck audio device I ever bought is my DSPeaker Anti-Mode 2.0 Dual Core room correction unit plus digital equalization. I have used it to take my audio system to a level that did not exist before. And I don’t trust ...
I don't have sibilance problems, are my speakers dull?
That last sentence made me smile remembering my listening skills, or lack of skills, some 20-30 years ago.  Some lessons weren't fun. grin.
I don't have sibilance problems, are my speakers dull?
I used to have bouts of sibilance with various recordings (Linda Ronstadt's "What's New" for sure) on Martin Logan SL3s and on Dynaudio Sapphires with the Esotar 2 tweeter.I feel I have no sibilance ever anymore on pretty much any recording I own ...
Different subwoofer settings for different albums?
Set your sub or subs properly (not by ear in my book) and forget. The sound recorded is what I'll listen to, and with three subs down to 25Hz I'll only hear what is on the program, nothing more or less. Having that clean tight ultra-low last octav...
Dunlavy resurrection?
Good luck with the possible venture. Living in CS I heard various Dunlavy models lots and loved the incredible sweet spot. Spending an evening with John at his building in the 90s was very memorable.
Long hiatus from audio, getting back into it, speaker/room help please
Magneplanars are nice.  I own a used W4S STI-1000 integrated that puts out over 1000w into 4 ohms and is dead, dead silent with a great preamp section and tape loop. Based on my experiences with Maggies, I think the very clear sound of the STI-100...
Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2021
I cannot speak for the new venue but have been to probably a dozen shows at the old Marriott (and volunteered to help Marjorie and the gang many years) and can say the show itself is very good with a lot of exhibitors.
Sub placement
"The downside is that I now feel like I’m sitting on the stage instead of in front of it."Why do you think that it? Can you actually hear or localize the subwoofer's location?  It may be bleed over 80/90 Hz that allows that. I'd try low passing a ...
Rippling cones
A subsonic filter is a good thing. I've had albums 'pump' the woofers and it's a bit disconcerting. Now the filter is set at 15Hz and it is gone. LPs do vary on how much rumble.Still as millercarbon mentions regarding the Townshend Pods, I'd say y...
Speaker Road Trip
I think the Dali's are the right move for sure. A great speaker and great for the money as well. Worst is you return them. I'll bet you will not.Your wife already told you the problem with horns. They sound great, for a while; IMO, sorry folks.
