Another one (server) bites the dust!
@lalitk I gotta say, if you own all the equipment pictured, and it is all in one residence (to paraphrase Jeff Foxworthy), you might just be an audiophile. Seriously, that is quite a collection of kit. I might have a hard time deciding what to pla...
Right match
Please don’t think I’m trying to insult your intelligence, but more than once, in my excitement with a new purchase, I’ve managed to confuse my inputs with my outputs. Equipment probably shouldn’t even work this way, but it tries, and sounds awful...
Router for Audio Streaming
@yoramguy1 I’m with you on the wireless. The wire can carry EMI/RFI noise. Wireless is the connection recommended by the manufacturer of the wireless bridge I use to stream, an Auralic Aries (original).
Analogue v. Digital...again (Washington Post)
@tswisla I agree. I don’t think @mulveling read the whole article, and it was a long one, but worthy; the author is a good writer. To me, it was all about his journey back into vinyl and who he met on the way, to include not only the opinionated T...
Franco Serbin Accordos after one month.....
I think you have to post a link. Ask your wife. Post the picture to Photo Bucket or other site and link to it in your post. I haven’t done it myself, but I am repeating instructions I have read on this site.
Record collecting versus hoarding
@mijostyn I had earlier copied the following quote from your earlier post above, “Nobody I know has a photograph of the first time they had sexual intercourse but I sure do remember what was playing at the time and my mind will do the rest. I have...
Record collecting versus hoarding
For my own part, coming to the discussion late, I purchased a collection of 700 45 RPM records from a man who was selling through the classifieds of our local newspaper. The titles were typical jukebox tunes from the 70’s through the 80’s and of d...
Record collecting versus hoarding
@fdroadrunner “persons I used to be” you said a mouthful there that younger persons would not comprehend. The fellow who made his son move his collection cross-country should have taken the time (and time is what it is all about) to explain how ea...
ETHERNET CABLES
@audphile1 +1 on this thread going south, too bad, I felt I was learning as much as the original poster
Personality Type?
INTJ I was told 1%. My wife loved to lament that she had married such an ‘odd’ person; I was never able to convince her how lucky she was. She had someone that 99% of others were unable to experience. 🙂 She passed over 4 years ago; wish she was he...
Anyone using 2 preamps in their rig?
@yyzsantabarbara I like your approach. I find myself wondering, “What if . . . “ a lot of the time, and I’m convinced that the preamp is the heart of a system, and I have a really good one, too; but it is solid state, what if . . . I used a tube p...
Where did you buy your first audio gear?
My first attempt at HiFi was purchased from a pawn shop near the high School in Santa Monica, California and at a Pacific Stereo store closer to Los Angeles proper (I don’t remember exactly where). I got some nondescript box speakers with 10” woof...
Accuphase dac 60
@duketbrd88 Man, I feel for ya. The voltage input/output levels seem to be an issue. I have a separate preamp that allows me to adjust input levels I reference to the ‘tuner’ which doesn’t exist in my system, but nevertheless, I can adjust the rel...
Its not vinyl
I think @mlsstl makes a good point above: He wrote, “In my mind, most of the complaints I hear about digital have more to do with the intentional choices made in the production of the CD or digital file than any inherent incapability of the digit...
Why not?
On my previous post above, I cited Musical Fidelity as providing directional RCA cables with their turntables, that should have been, ‘Music Hall’ I don’t know what I was typing, sorry for the (unintentional) misinformation.
