I was hoping islandmandan would contribute his ideas. I've seen and heard his system and I can tell you the man knows his stuff. He is an excellent source.

A true listening room is very hard to find, indeed. But, if you are considering in-walls, I highly recommend RBH in-walls. I use them for home theater and friends use them for 2 channel. Very impressive. The bigger 8" woofer has ample bass, but a ...

I highly recommend the VAC 80/80. Excellent value for the money. Expect to pay less than $2k used. As always, look for at least 8/10.Good luck.

Avalon Eidolen VS Porac D80 or B&W 802D
The Avalons would be my choice. They require adequate power and placement. They look beautiful and sound fabulous with most music when properly placed.Get the Avalons and look no more!
slightly neurotic question from a tube newbie
Tube amps have lots of current flowing. My advise is to NOT turn it on. Take it to a tech and have it checked out. Most likely, he/she will do exactly what Mingles (above) advised. But, loose sockets and poking around can be dangerous.
How organized are you with your music
Ignore "the" and "A". If you can't figure that one out on your own, I suggest Audiofeil's recommendation.
