Placing Instrument Separation of Large Ensembles in Recordings @onhwy61 +1 Your description re orchestral recording is correct. It is unclear why OP is trying to hear each individual violin whether they are 1st or 2nd violins. One hear these as a group, not as individual instruments.Similarly for cellos and...
Calling All Tube Gurus Here is a paragraph from Joe's Tube Lore. See if this is helpful information. For details, check the link. Be careful of getting hung up on the brand name printed on the tube. In my experience most Siemens 6DJ8 family tubes you will find in the U...
Retirement System Finally Completed: Impression of the Mola Mola Tambaqui Congratulations on retirement! Life is just beginning and enjoy your system. You earned this. I certainly don't mind coming over and listening to your beautiful system and enjoying some Barter House ORPHaN BARREL Kentucky Bourbon.
???What's The LEAST Expensive "End Game"Amplifier You've Ever Heard??? Mark Levinson 23.5. Still sounds better than many amps costing lot more. Another dark horse is Audio Research 100.2. Both amps are musical without causing listening fatigue. Can sit and listen for hours. Got plenty of power too.
Truly Stunning Vinyl Album You should try Walt Disney's Fantasia, conducted by Irwin Kostal based on the original soundtrack by Leopold Stokowski. I have the original Stokowski LP too which is great. But Kostal's LP is something else. It completely fills up my listening roo...
Have you noticed as your system improves? You know you are there or almost 99% there when you don't need crank up the volume and you don't want to leave your listening chair when you start listening to your favorite CDs/Records. Yesterday, I just fired up my system and played Coleman Hawk...
Soft dome tweeter replacement for Thiel 3.6s @jafant @rcprince I posted this earlier in the Thiel Owners thread, but didn't get a response. So I deleted that and re-post as a new one here. Thanks for the reply.
Do your ears deceive you? Of course your ears can deceive you. Your mind can play tricks on what you "want to hear" as opposed to what is really being played. This will largely depend on your age and hearing, but no question about your mind playing tricks on what you "want...
Why I don't hear bass drums on Jazz LPs? @dogearedaudio I was listening to Ben Webster's Blue Light LP yesterday. Really wonderful album. Double bass in the front-middle of the soundstage and the cymbols/snare drums on the left side back of the stage. Webster played the horn on right sid...
Why I don't hear bass drums on Jazz LPs? @bdp24 Thank you very much for your very informative response. I thought may be the mics did not capture the bass drums. Now I know it has to do with the way they played the bass drum. It is always good to hear from those who know the subject. Aga...
Why I don't hear bass drums on Jazz LPs? @czarivey My bad. It should be "powered by" 😂
Listening position/speaker position Without getting in to details, I will say your friend gave you a terrible advise. My room is the same width and length as yours. My speaker placement is very much the same as yours. Placing your listening chair against the back wall is a very bad ...
Kind of Blue Funny. I was a newbie a very long long time ago. I was shopping for classical music LPs at Twist & Shout here in Denver. I was talking to someone and mentioned I was unsure if I can enjoy jazz or not. Luckily, this guy was the co-owner of the ...
Component contributions to “sound stage” In my experience, synergy between amplifier, speaker, and the listening room play a dominant role recreating sound stage, granted it is captured and recorded. Of course, your playback system should be able to faithfully extract this information. S...
Overkill for small room Those speakers will be fine in your room. But you will need a beefy amplifier to drive these. They are rated as 86dB and 4 ohms, Ouch!. An amp tat can deliver high currents should drive these comfortably. |
